Gardener for Pope John Paul II

I had this dream the last week of December 2006.

I was a gardener/landscaper and worked for the pope. We weren't at the Vatican, however, we were outside a 70's style ranch house. Pope John Paul II was wearing white robes and he was accompanied by a middle aged man with dark hair who was wearing red robes. They were in the front yard of this home and seemed unusually concerned with, of all things, a small shrub. They called me over to take a look at it.

I was dressed in dirty work clothes and was carrying a shovel. The bush looked dead and leafless, except for one sprout with healthy yellow leaves rising over the rest of the twigs. I gave the one living stem on the bush a stong yank, and unexpectedly, the entire bush, roots and all, came out of the ground.

I placed the rootball back in the hole, filling dirt around it and tamping down the ground with my foot and shovel. Then, I cut off the live shoot and the assured the pope that in the end, cutting the entire shrub low would result in a healthier, more vigorous shrub.

He pointed to the base of the tree, where the branches were ugly and gnarled. He wondered how long it would look like that. In real life, I'm not much of a gardener, but in the dream I seemed to know what I was talking about. I told the pope that once that bush started sprouting again that only a little bit of the unattractive base would show, but that it would show for a long time.

That was the end.

On the description of the man in the red robes, he appeared to be on the portly side with a double chin. He had short black hair and one of those faces that even after a shave, he still had razor stubble. His looked younger than JPII (JP II, BTW, appeared in good health). I'm not sure of his nationality. I'm thinking that he wore glasses--but since I'm writing this down later, I'm not sure anymore. He stayed with JPII in the dream, but he never spoke.
