Hi everyone I have a question, hopfully someone can help me. My daughter inlaw called me today and told me that her mothers animals are acting very strange and nervous. do you no if animals can sense an earthquakes before they happen? I know this is a strange question but I was just wondering. Thanks

Yes, animals can sense earthquakes, it is possibly because they sense the pressure change before a quake....it is known that horses, deer, etc will run away from an EQ zone. Cats act very bizarrely, mashing themselves under furniture, dogs barking incessantly. Birds also, they will either leave the area (which makes an eerie silence during the day) or squawk like mad. I have actually seen this, where birds of different species all lined up together on a fence around a yard, screeching and screaming (crows, sparrows, wrens, etc) and not flying away when a person walked by, a few minutes later there was an earthquake with an epicenter about 10 miles away.

It is not known how soon before a quake that animals exhibit strange behaviour. I have heard reports of horses being incredibly skittish up to 36 hours ahead of one. Animals also react to bad storms (this for sure is from the sudden drop in air pressure that happens with big storms, even people can feel this). Most of this information is anecdotal, but there's enough of it out there to make you really think.......If your relative's mum's animals are not sick, or bad weather is not expected, it might be possible they are sense a pressure change from underground. I am not saying they ARE, but it is possible......

Thank you so much bcdreamer that makes alot of sense. I tryed to do a little research on this but all that I could find was saying that it was possible that animals possibly could sense earthquakes up to 2 weeks ahead of time. Thanks again.

I have never dreamt about an earthquake before but last night (well, it was 5.54am this morning 20/8/09 - London, England) I dreamt I was in an earthquake - a really big one. But if everyone who had such a dream posted a message one of them would be bound to come true so I don't think it can be a premonition. Thought it best to mention it just in case. Not sure what to do about it. Maybe ask local seismologists if they are detecting anything?

Im glad you posted your dream. it seems that alot of people are having dreams of earthquakes, I believe that many of them will come true, I just pray that we will all be ok. thanks

Yes animals know when disater is coming. Animals are acting strangely. it is believe that a sea crab will go to the top mountain where they know could not be reached by a strong wave when tsunami/tidal wave is coming. I lived in the farm before and I know some omens in the sky as my father told me before and it is all came true. The dog knows when there is coming visitor and the flicker of the fire in the stove he also knew when visitor is coming. A water in the well he knew when heavy rain/storm is coming. even the formation of the birds in the sky while flying indicates the weather bad or good is coming. I know more of these omens but others think it's superstitous. My favorite TV program is the Reality Telivision; miracles and by chance etc.

I have been dreaming of earthquakes and even when I am awake I feel a huge distubance in the atmosphere. I do believe ther will be a major event here in california soon. BLESSINGS TO YOU.
