"I Dream About Men"

Here's a funny little one from this morning...

As waking, I heard a male voice say, "I dream about men." That was it. I could get no more information about who was speaking, or what they meant.

So, I get up, take the dog out, make tea, turn on Good Morning America.

First story up as I sat down was about Adam Lambert, second place winner on American Idol, coming out to Rolling Stone magazine about being gay... like nobody guessed that already, right? All that eye makeup and Paula Abdul's references to his "shopping both sides of the aisle." I'm sure he *does* dream about men! He thought the first place winner, Chris Allen, was "hot." Allen is married though, so presumably not gay. Lambert's the feature story on 20/20 tonight at ten p.m. on ABC. I do like his singing!

The next thing I noticed was the streamer at the bottom of the screen, and it said that Chastity Bono, aka Chaz, the forty (I think) year old daughter of Sonny and Cher, is going to have a sex-change operation. Yikes! I guess she dreams about BEING a man. I still have no idea how people can put themselves through that, but many certainly do. I can only think the mental anguish of feeling trapped in the wrong body is worse than the physical pain. That's awful to have to live with.

For an interesting read re: sex change, Chris Bohjalian (one of my favorite writers) wrote a novel called _Transister Radio_. He's an imaginative guy... takes issues, usually rather New Age in nature, and surrounds then with a story that gives all the pros and cons. He makes you *think!*
