Default Outbreak

About a month ago, I had a dream that I was walking on a street near by the street that I used to live on during my early childhood years. As I walked down the street, I noticed that the houses looked old and dingy looking. I looked ahead and could see hundreds of bodies lying in the yards. There were bodies everywhere. I continued on and looking further ahead, I saw my mom holding a baby. I started to cry when I realized that the baby had died. I walked further towards the end of the road and saw a small house that had been converted into a clinic with sliding doors. I walked inside and saw a doctor standing there with nurses behind the counter. Towards the back, I saw another set of sliding doors leading out of the clinic where a man was cleaning bloody hand prints and marks on the glass doors. I walked out through the second set of glass doors and turned left to go down another street. I then saw a house that appeared to be a new house that I had just moved into. I went to the house and then suddenly woke up.

I don't know what this meant. I've never had a dream like this before about dead bodies or diseases. After hearing about the swine flu a few weeks later, it kind of freaked me out. I don't know if this is what the dream was about, and I pray that the swine flu or H1N1 virus never gets this bad, but I thought I should just document it just in case. I just started writing down my dreams that are out of the ordinary in the beginning of this year. Writing them write after they happen helps me to remember more of the details.

Default pandemic dreams

I can bet you are not the only one having scary dreams about the possible pandemic and particularly since it has been in the news repeatedly for about a month now. However, most of the cases outside of Mexico have been very mild. Keep in mind that our regular run-of-the-mill yearly flu kills 60,000 people every year in the USA and so far the deaths from the swine flu around the world are only perhaps less than 200 (sorry, am not up-to-date on that stat). Of all the cases where I live, everyone has recovered so far and been released from hospital and/or isolation. Perhaps the dream was a magnification of your natural worries about the seriousness of the news. On the other hand, you may indeed be picking up something that is brewing on the horizon....did you get any kind of time frame, like if it was summer or autumn, any clues from the trees, the way people were dressed? Just wondering.....

I actually had the dream in March before it came out in the news. As for the surroundings, it just seemed very gloomy and overcast as if a storm was approaching.

Default tsunami

See Hazelflame's posting about her tsunami dream, her last addition says that she feels it could mean the virus ("a storm is coming"). As I said to her, I hope you are wrong! We've not seen a huge pandemic for many decades, and we know society will go on, all we can do is be as healthy as we can, eat good wholesome foods and practice good sanitary habits like washing hands frequently. (And, if you are so inclined, and even if you're not, a prayer or two couldn't hurt either.) Thanks for sharing your dreams.

Default The chance for epidemics increases as the population increases.

Infectious diseases are "density dependent", they need people (or whatever they infect) to be in close proximity so that they can spread and survive. They will be a bigger and bigger threat as the population skyrockets. So maybe this was a prophetic dream of the about-to-happen swine flu, although if that were the case I would say you were foreseeing the fear factor from the media rather than the actual devastation caused by the flu. Or of course it could be about a future epidemic.

If I was you I would write down all the dreams you can remember. I have written most of mine down since the age of 16, and it is amazing to go back and read them, knowing what happened later. For instance I was living in a place I couldn't stand for several years and felt that I would never, ever escape, and then the housing market crashed. I spent another 18 months waiting for my house to sell. I often felt that I would just die in that place I detested. Then finally the house sold, I moved into the house I love and hope to spend the rest of my life in. As I went through my dream journal a few months ago I found a dream from before the housing decline started. I was standing in the parking lot of a grocery store near my parents house and got stuck by lightning so that I flew about 300 yards from there. At the time, the dream was very scary as it was so intense. But I was stunned as I reread this dream, as the house I live in now (my dream house) is about 300 yards from that store. Now I know that some part of me (or whatever sent me that message) was yelling at me from a high source and saying "This is where you will end up and it will be very peaceful and good for you" but at the time the dream was very very confusing. So now I feel for sure that I am where I need to be, the dream comforts me though I didn't understand it when it happened. Plus, if you have a tendency for prohetic dreams you should write everything down. You always think "I will remember THIS dream!" but you rarely do.

Smile

Thanks Ametista.

I agree about writing everything down. Over the years I wrote a few dreams down and forgot about many. Because I've been having a lot more vivid out of the ordinary type dreams since the beginning of this year, I've been writing more down and have them in a journal to keep track of.

I think everyone should keep a journal to write down dreams that strike you as odd or seem out of the ordinary that are vivid and show great detail. Since the beginning of the year, I've written down 13 but have had a few more that I didn't write down. It's important to write them down so that you can confirm them later and don't forget. I had one dream that came to pass and my mom was the one who reminded me that I had the dream. I had totally forgotten because I didn't write it down.
