Vision Of Virgin Mary

I just found this forum site a few minutes ago, but I really need some help from anyone who may be able to offer it at this point. Lastnight, I had this dream, and it was one of those really intense feeling kind of dreams, almost like it was real.
What happened was I was standing in a very dark place or house, I remember it almost looking like an old wood cabin of some sort. The only light was coming from a door which was behind me, and I was standing in the doorway. Right there in front of me, the Virgin Mary was standing, leaning against a wall, with her head to the side, and her hands clasped together below her chin, her robe wasn't like the traditional bright colors that you see in paintings, it looked worn, and lived in, not the perfection that is portrayed by most artists.
I almost instantly made eye contact with her, her eyes were so tired, and she was crying terribly. I dropped to my knees right away and began to cry hysterically myself, and even though I wanted to look away I couldn't. Each tear that fell from her face hurt me more and more. All of a sudden I realized the only way to make it stop was by forgiving myself for something I have done. As soon as I came to this realization, she looked up at me. She had stopped crying. And even though her face still looked like she had spent an eternity in agony, she was smiling. Her eyes pierced me, I cannot get her gaze out of my mind. It was so intense that it scared me. I don't know if her gaze was meant to scare me, or encourage me, but I was very afraid because I felt so unsure of what was happening to me.
I woke myself up. Shook myself out of the dream. Yet I still feel like theres something im missing. I have no idea what this means but I have such a strong urgence inside me that theres more to this. I can't explain, and maybe I'm just going crazy lol... But MAYBE just MAYBE someone might be able to give me some ideas as to what this dream may have been trying to tell me...

I'm not a proper dream interpreter, but I'll give you my spin on it. Most dreams mean nothing to me, but there is a certain type I recognize as being something more than an ordinary dream (but, I could be delusional ). Yours seems to be in that category.

The imperfect dress symbolizes the quality of your prayers. Either you are neglecting them or saying them haphazardly, without much thought on your approach or the content.

Mary's suffering and crying reflects the perilous state of your soul (and maybe the state of the world in general). The feeling that need to forgive yourself might indicate that the gap between you and God stems from a sense of unworthiness on your part . . . this may or may not be something you're aware of . . . but, you have distanced yourself from God because you don't see how he could love someone like you (or humanity in general).

When you meet Mary's gaze, it's an intense moment. This indicates a new beginning--a starting point--because when she holds your gaze--this shows that your attention has been drawn to divine things. She smiles, but you don't know if she's trying to scare you or encourage you. I say, she's trying to do both.

The dream is saying if you continue to live your spiritual life in the same way, it will gradually lead to your destruction. But, if you increase the quality of your prayer life (your relationship with the Lord), there is reason to hope. It's possible you're praying now, and if you are, this dream is a call for you to examine how you're doing it, because there is room for improvement. Remember, in prayer, it's not the words that are so important, but the meaning behind them. Formulaic prayers, like the Our Father and the rosary are fine. But, there's a danger. If they are rattled off "like a formula" without much thought, the dream symbolizes that it's like dressing Our Lady in rags. Prayers that are said with concentration are like dressing her in an exquisite gown. Also, when your living in sin, or holding onto one, it's like offering Mary a gift with soiled hands. What I'm saying is do not hold onto past sins. Approach the Lord and seek forgiveness, strive not to sin no more, and your prayer life will improve by leaps and bounds. Don't worry about quantity over meditating over the Goodness, Mercy and Glory of God. You weren't sure what Mary was thinking at the end of the dream, because the rest of your life is still ahead of you. Your future is unknown (except to God Himself). She smiles because you have taken a step in the right direction, but there's no guarantee you'll continue on the path of salvation.

Like I just told someone else, I'm aware religious interpretations irritate some people, but I'll risk being scorned in order to give it as I see it. My analysis should always be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism anyway, so take it or leave it. The best of luck to you. Peace.
