Can someone please tell me if God of the Christians or Bible, God Augustus?
This has been propping up a lot in my life. I need the truth. Thank you! RM "Upon his death in AD 14, Augustus was declared a god by the Senate, to be worshipped by the Romans." Augustus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

HI,
No Augustus was and is not the God of the bible. Here's some scriptures i hope they help 1, Genesis :26 Then God Said, "and now we will make human beings; They will be like us. They will have power over all the fish, the birds, and all the animals domestic and wild, large and small". Isaiah 9:6-7 A Child is born to us! a son is given to us and he will be our ruler. He will be called "wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace" His royal power will grow, his kingdom will always be at peace. He will rule as king David's succcessor, basing his Power on right and justice, from now until the end of time... In this verse Isaiah is talking about Jesus who is also God in the flesh. In These verse's Isaiah is prophecing way before Jesus was born this is scripture is from the old testament and is clearly talking about Jesus Isaiah 53 The people reply, " who would have believed what we now report? who could have seen the Lord's hand in this? It was the will of the Lord that his servant like a plant taking root in dry ground. He had no dignity or beauty to make us take notice of him. There was nothing attractive about him, nothing that would draw us to him. We dispised him and rejected him; he endured the suffering that should have been our, the pain that should have been borne. All the while we thought that his suffering was punishment sent by God. But because of our sins he was, wounded, beaten because of the evil we did. we are healed by the punishment he suffered, made whole by the blows he recieved. All of us were like sheep that was lost, each of us going his own way. But the Lord made the punishment fall on him, the punishmnent we all deserved. He was treated harshly, but endured it humbly; he never said a word. Like a lamb about to be slaughtered, like a sheep about to be sheared, he never said a word. He was arrested and sentenced and led off to die, and no one cared about his fate. He was put to death for the sins of his people. He was placed in the grave of the wicked, he was buried with the rich, even though he never told a lie. The Lord says, "It was my will that he should suffer; his sacrifice to bring forgiveness. and so he will see his descendants, he will live a long life, and through him my purpose will succeed. After a life of suffering , he will again have joy, he will know that he did not suffer in vain. My devoted servant, with whom I am pleased, will bear the punishment of many and for his sake I will forgive them. And so I will give him a place among the great and powerful. He willingly gave his life and shared the fate of evil men. He took the place of many sinners and prayed they might be forgiven". I hope this helps. |

Quote:
Augustus was declared a God by the Roman Senate. Your question kind of puzzles me, so I'm wondering if you're confusing the Roman Senate with the Roman Catholic Church. These are two entirely separate entities. Christianity was still illegal in Rome at the time of Augustus and the Roman Senate was pagan. So, emphatically NO--Augustus is not the God of the Christians. When you say "If only Jesus is OF God", I'm thinking there may be a language barrier between us. But, I will explain it based on what it sounds like you are saying. The word "OF" can change the meaning a great deal. When you ask, who else is not OF God, the answer is nobody. God made everything and everybody, including the angels. You, me, animals, plants, the entire universe -- are OF God. If you mean that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, then the answer is, yes. Notice the emphasis on 'begotten'. Jesus is not just OF God, He IS God--the Second Person of the Trinity (the other two Persons being the Father and the Holy Spirit). I hope that answers you're question, but honestly, I'm not sure if I understood what you were asking. |

I get the idea you are not Christian and your goal here is to prove that Jesus wasn't good--hence, Jesus is not God.
