Does anyone know what does seeing a shaman in dreams means? I don't think I saw one. But I was sure I was in the vicinty.
I am just curious what it means to see a Shaman. Bless God ! - rmahil ------------------------------------------------------------------------ My Background - I am a Sikh by Faith. Shamans generally represent the wise one, the one who is making an ascension into the higher spiritual planes, one who can transverse the spirit worlds and physical world at will, one who has the ability to bring nature and spirit into partnership to accomplish necessary tasks for the good of the tribe. On the shadow side, the shaman is also the trickster, the one who can shift our perception about their reality and power. To see a shaman in a dream, generally depends on the actions of the shaman in relation to what is happening in the dreamscape. If it is just a case of "just knowing that they are there," then the relationship in the dream is pretty much the same as when there are "silent watchers" present. The watch, give support, but do not interfere with the dreamer or the outcome. A powerful shaman can inject themselves into other dreamers dreamscapes but it is something that is not normally practiced as it usually serves no good purpose and can bring more harm than good for the individual shaman or tribe. Hope this helps.

First off, when a shaman decides to undertake a dream "intrusion" it must be with the utmost good intention and with a good reason for the journey. It requires a lot of spiritual asistance and protection. The harm can come if the shaman inadvertantly brings back a dark energy or attachment from the dreamer. This energy can wreck havoc on the tribe that they are supposed to be protecting. This will also take a toll on the shaman him/her self, leaving them in a "psychic funk" or as we know it "soul fragmented" which will leave the shaman themselve in need of treatment.
Secondly, shamans know the limits and dangers of their trade. They do not simply go into people dreams to look around and see what they can see. They make this journey if and only when it is their best and last choice. And when they do join someone elses dreams, it is "get in get out" type of journey. Nothing extended. And they will make their purpose known. Even those shamans that have turned to the shadow side of the practice (those known as sorcerers) know the toll it takes and most of them shy away from making this kind of journey. Aside from this, remember that your dreams for the most part are of your own making and certain things in your dreams may be aspects of your own self trying to assert itself or make itself known. Perhaps the shaman is your own inner wisdom and spiritual energy trying to come out and make itself known. Only you can say, these are just jumping off points to work with. hope this helps. Let me rephrase how about if I was in their vaccinity instead of them being in my viccinity?
I don't think you have given me a true interpretation of my dream. I am sorry but it just doesn't click or make sense. Thanks though for trying.! Last edited by rmahil : 12-04-2007 at 02:47 PM. |

Please understand that I was in no way interpreting or even trying to interpret your dream. You asked what a shaman in a dream meant and I gave you the archetypical interpretations. In my own estimation, no one on this earth can give you the total and complete interpretation of the dream in totality. That is up to you and what your spirit bears agreement with. You can get time tested archetypical symbols but the truth of the dream is in your own heart. Also, dreams can operate on many levels at the same time so one dream can have more than one meaning for the dreamer. I don't try to interpret dreams since I have seen even the "experts" come up short with their sure fire meanings. As far as being in the shamans vicinity or them being in yours, the same holds true for either case.

Thank you, Squirrel ~
I appreciate your reply. I will try to understand it. I just feel I am supposed to be part of this as I feel I am pulled to it. But again, I am not so sure because I don't know anything about it. God bless~ |

in addition to the last post, there is a big difference in seeing and not seeing a shaman in a dream. Also, while feeling you are in their vicinity or they are in yours is a moot point, what matters is did they come to you or did you go to them. You asked what would cause them harm and I explained that also. If you are unsure about seeing or being in a shamans presence in the dream then don't expect your interpretor to be sure also. They can only work with what they are given. That is why details, details, details are so important in dream work. Also, as a practicing shaman, the explaination of dream journeys is firsthand experience and not heresay or book reading. That is why to me a shaman in a dreams is definitely much different than what it would mean to you. Best wishes in finding meaning.
