Cutting my hair and someone trying to kill me

I've been having dreams lately of people trying to kill me, and I don't understand why. In this dream, I was calm about it. I didn't realize I was asleep or dreaming, I had stayed up late last night, so I thought I was still awake. The blinds were pulled down over my bedroom window, but you could still tell that it was dark outside. I was standing next to my bed, slicing off pieces of my hair, up to my chin. For some reason, it was important that I cut my hair, and I was doing a really sloppy job of it. And there was a man outside, walking past my bedroom window toward the door in my livingroom so that he could come inside and kill me.
I wasn't in a hurry, but it was still important for me to cut my hair. Then I heard this "click" from behind, and it was the sound of my doorknob turning. When I heard the click I knew I was going to die, and I turned around to see the handle of my door turning. The man was coming into my room to kill me!
Then I jerked awake. I was so scared! At first I was surprised to see light coming in through my window where it seemed darkness had been a moment before. It was then that I realized that I had been dreaming.
I don't know why it's so important, but it seems like I have to know what this dream means!

It is based on the same theme of the biblical fable, Samson and Delilah. It sounds as if someone, possibly a rival, is attempting to marginalise your influence in some sphere and that you are unhappy or rather blaming yourself for the incident. It sounds as if you may have been unwittingly lured into this situation. You certainly appear to be unhappy about something in you life and are blaming yourself.
