Hello there. I do fairly well at being able to interpret my own dreams but the nightmare I had last night has left me a little shaken and it may disturb some people that read this as well.
I was in a movie theater staring up at a screen that wasn't showing a movie but a picture of a backyard. I don't know who's backyard it was but all it was was just an unmoving picture. I looked around the theater and saw about 10 people. I looked at the person down the row from me and appearing behind that person was a monster that looked kind of like Grover or Elmo from Sesame Street. The monster bent over the person, fangs grew to immense proportions in it's mouth, and it swallowed the person's head. When it was done, it ran off. I looked back to the screen scared out of my mind. I looked over my shoulder and saw that the same monster was swallowing another person's head. Out of fear, I stood up on my chair and jumped straight up. I jumped so high, I touched the ceiling of the theater and grabbed a piece of felt. As I was descending, I maintained my hold of the felt and it came down like a blanket over all the seats in the theater. What was once 10 people now became 50 people as they started cursing at me for bringing the felt cloth down on them. The monster was still killing people as they moved forward to the front row so they can still watch the screen as they held the felt above their heads. I began to feel that I was next on the monster's list. At the front of the theater, I saw a knife on the ground and I picked it up. I thought to avoid any suffering that it should just be best to take my own life. I ran the knife across my wrist but it only left a scratch. I slit my wrist harder and again it only left a scratch. Frustrated, I held the knife perpendicular to the side of my wrist and sliced all the way into the bone. I watched the blood flow out of my wrist and my life faded away. That's when I woke up. Now that I wrote this, I have several theories but I'm curious on what other people's perspective would be. I had a healthy dinner of fish and rice that night and I do take multi-vitamins everyday. I'm not on any prescription drugs nor do I have any history with mental illnesses. I usually do have very vivid dreams but this one scared the hell out of me. The two aspects that stand out to me about this dream is your being aware of what others were not and the fear of suffering. Instead of stopping the monster you, in essence, saved yourself, but in such a dramatic and irrational way. tho this monster was doing horrible things, it was only the size of grover or elmo? or was is larger? still if it was large there is a bit of innocence about sesame street characters. so many things this dream could be meaning. A look on things from childhood turning menacing? I would definintley evaluate what a movie theater means to you, what these sesame street characters mean as well. Is there something you are running from in everyday life, something you would rather not face?
best of luck licia

The movie theater is a gathering place, the most popular gathering place is work. Thats the seen, everyone doing the same thing for the same reason. The movie theater suggests its something you wanted to do instead of something you have to do. The seen sets the stage for the dream so is important where this takes place. Since i cant place what you do, it could be a church, someplace you go for fun, or your Job. So im going to place this dream as your Job. Work isnt always about making it what you want it to be, and it being a job carer. Some people dont have a choice because they never made the choice not to make work a carer, they remain simple minded and loyal to a single employer. Some people go to school, and go from place to place trying to better themselves, and to fit it a good group.
The dream can take two directions either with being a foreman and seperate from everyone else giving the ability to see things others cant, or is about taking advantage of what others are unable to see, or both. The symbolism of the words suggests someone who takes care of their self image, someone who cares about what they look like to others. Being in a room with everyone else with a monster means that your no better than anyone else, and fall under the same basic rules of life with them. The monster doesnt discriminate, its after anyone. Jumping to the cieling and pulling the felt down is pulling the wool over everyones eyes so they cant see you, because if no one can see you puts you in a different place than them, seperate from the monster. They believing this unfair that you would do that when your no better than they, they see this very clear that your not beyond what they must endure. The monster is the eliminater, systematically eliminating them without their permission. This would be a set of rules everyone must follow, and upon the belief that they are not paying attention, they are eliminated. Pulling the wool over everyones eyes is to lie about who you are, only you know who you are. To lie about who you are to make yourself better than everyone is to keep what you have worked for, and that no one is going to take that away from you even if everyone else must go out the door before you. Which brings out a simple truth that everyone must work, and that puts everyone in the same boat. The monster is subliminal, a symbol of who we are. Most people dont know men have the same personality. They lie, cheat and steal for the same reason, because they must if threatened. Its a mindset of the world bearing down on them, and no one giving them the chance to earn their way out of it. All men want someone to believe in them, thats the basic personality of a man, to do whats right so they dont have to lie or cheat or steal. Its a matter of circumstances. There are the few that want to gain position over others that make it a point to go over everyones heads right to the boss and blame others to gain favor. That is never exceptable, and nothing is done at work that everyone doesnt see. Only you know your position, where this is, and what your doing, and as i dont know for a fact without eliminating each circumstance and knowing who you are. Most rules given by people are based on a punisment system, because rules that truley benifit everyone are not cost effective. They do this to eliminate mistakes without realizing its more cost effective to make sure safguards are put in place to prevent mistakes. |
