Hi, I hope someone can help me to understand these dreams.
When I was a child 5-6 yrs old I had a 2 recurring nightmares. One: I would meet a person who would have a mask on and I would take it off, then another mask would appear- this would happen over and over again and I would never see the person. A similar dream was that I would open a door and there was already a door behind it. The second dream: My family was in the house robbers came in and were killing them. I ran away to a neighbors, I could see in the windows that the robbers were killing them to. No matter where I went I couldn't escape the robbers. Any ideas? these dreams have haunted me for a lifetime. I am 50 Thank You

Hi, I'm afraid I've no idea what this dream might mean, but I've had similar ones and I think I might be able to help. I'm sure you know what lucid dreaming is, but did you know there's a CD you can buy that has a tone on it that helps you become lucid during your nightmares? I used to have an awful one about being chased by death - he'd drop mask after mask, just like the figure you describe, and I'd run but he'd always catch up. I used the CD and managed to become lucid during the nightmare. Rather than running I stood and watched him drop his masks and willed him to show me his face. Eventually he ran out of masks and I saw that he had no face at all. As I said, I'm no good at analysing these things, but I woke up with an immense sense of wellbeing. This all took place when I was suffering from quite intense anxiety disorder, basically living in fear of the myriad ways I imagined I could die! I'd recommend it, because I know recurring nightmares are horrible things. I hope that helps.

The first dream is normal, the age you say would be right for that type of dream, though the second dream shouldnt come about untill the age of 8-9 yrs of age. If it comes early then there would be some trauma that shouldnt be in your life at that time.
The first dream at that age is always about discovery, seeing or putting together things. The dream brings about the idea there is more to things than meets the eye. Facing the truth, but the truth is not going to give the answer no matter how hard you try. Our minds see so much because it knows who we are, and in knowing who we are also knows who everyone else is. The dream of everyone being killed except you, is fustration your family has given to you eventhough you care for them. Instead of doing something wrong, and feeling the pain yourself because you did something wrong, your family has done something wrong to you, and suffers for it. Running from someone in fear, and not being able to our run them is fear. The droping of mask's is the unveiling of the truth of the matter, which is the lies of fear, our imagination that creats the fear. Fear comes from punishment and punishment causes trauma, and trauma needs to be resolved. While one of us might choose to face it, another might choose to avoid it. You can either face it or run from it, never the less it needs to be resolved so the dream must come. Since the man of fear has no face, its then a lie because truth always has a face while a lie is so hard to see. The droping of the mask's is the part of the individual to resolve the problem dispite the effort the problem persists. This is a lie. |
