recurring nightmsre i ahd when i was a kid

OK so I am almost 20yrs old and i had this dream when i was maybe twelve. I did post this on the other forum but more consider it a nightmare. i honestly couldnt tell you how old i was but i was young. My mom remarried when I was in the 3rd grade to this man who was very mentally abusive. He and i didnt get along, my brother didnt get along with im either but my brother got the better treatment. Well, starting about when i was 12 or so im guessing, i had this dream i called it a nightmare because i would wake up feeling distressed. Anyway, it was a chase dream, i believe my stepdad was chasing me throught the strabgest places and i couldnt even describe them to you but it seemed like i was being chased forever, and finally i enter one of these strange buildings to try and hide an he follows me in. Basically, this strange builiding had a spike pit at the bottom of this thing and we were high up on a platform and basically i pushed him over it and into the spike pit. And yes i watched him hit the spike pit it wasnt one of those where i woke up before he hit, i pushed him in and watched him die. It turned out to be a recurring dream and i had it for several years. I dont remember how old i was when i stopped having this dream but ive never forgotten it. My mom and step dad divorced when i was 17. I havent seen him since. Can anyone explain this dream/nightmare?
