Default rape

Hi there~
I'm kind of new here. I just posted a dream I had last night on the general dreams page, but thought since I was here, I'd share one of my terrors with you.
This was about 20 years ago (when I was 12 and still living at home with my parents), but I still think about it from time to time. I was dreaming of sleeping in my bed at home when a man broke into my window, obviously afraid, in the dream I pretended to be asleep so he would not harm me, but just pilfer the things he wanted from my home and be on his way. When the man left my bedroom, I thought he had left so I ran into my parents room to wake them up and tell them what was happening. But when I tried to wake them, they would not wake, so I went to my sisters bedroom (who is 5 years my elder) to try to wake her, only to find the man beginning to rape her. She began to scream erratically and did her best to fight him off, but it was no use. I tried to help her, but it was as if he had a shield or force field around me. I couldn't get to her, she saw me and begged me to help, holding her arms out to me, but I just couldn't get past. I know this shield was around me because I tried to go back to my parents room, but the shield was all around me. Through this dream, which by the way was extremely violent and very vivid, I had to watch uselessly as my sister was violently raped repeatedly. And when the man was finished with her, he simply looked over his shoulder and sneered a very smug smile at me, and climbed out of my sisters bedroom window. This is when I finally woke up with sweat, tears, a racing heart and a sore throat (as if I had been screaming out loud, not only in my dream), ran into my sisters room only to find her not there!!! She was in the family room watching tv, but at the age of 12, with that dream in mind and her not being where I thought she was was devastating. I still think about that dream, it was so real me.

Hello,

Dreams of being raped deal with feeling a loss of control, our self-esteem, our energy, an emotional ‘rip-off’ of sorts that violates us. What is the very 1st thought you think of when you think of your sister? That lends a clue. The 1st thing that comes to mind is a quality that is within you, yet it’s easier to see it within her. So she plays the role as a character in your dream. It may as simple as feeling like a victim of circumstances in life. Even though it was your sister you watched being raped, it’s actually you that is somehow feeling in real life as though you were unable to control a situation or circumstances at that time. The man breaking in through the window depicts unwanted exposure in some way and a sense of utter helpless-ness to do anything about it. And feeling taunted (haunted by the smugness of a perpetrator in your waking life). Rest assured – the law of reciprocity is with all of us. Even though perpetrators may seem to get away with something – it always comes back full circle.

Your sister is 5 years your elder. And that tells me there a decision regarding something that needs to change. That being – a need to find a healthy outlet to express your self verbally and release whatever caused these repressed feelings to surface. Because you woke up with your heart racing, sweating, etc. again that points to feeling as though there is/was no control over a situation in life. The shield over you is showing you – that you have a POWERFUL force around you, unseen assistance of Gods angels surround you and will protect you. Simply ask and they will offer their protection.

And of course any form of abuse may bring on these type of dreams as well. It’s amazing isn’t it – how a powerful dream remains imbedded in our memory for years? I had a couple of dreams beginning at age 4 & still remember them to this day. Hope that helps & lends insight for you.

~Blessings~
~Kelli~

I have made a dream study on rapes. It features along with other dream symbols on this page

http://www.geocities.com/hairybobby2000/dreamessay.html

RAPES : Rapes in dreams can mean many things. Obviously if you have been raped then the dream could be taking you back to that moment. Rape sometimes link to sexual feelings in another way. If you are sexually inexperienced the dream maybe about you exploring your own sexual feelings and preparing to enter a sexual relationship. They may also link to issues of trust e.g. can you trust someone to look after your child?

But rapes often are just metaphors for abuse and a sense of powerlessness. They may link to people who have lied and cheated to you and taken advantage of you. They may refer to a boss who has taken advantage of you or treated you badly. If no obvious link to the dream appears just try to think about your life right now and what is the bad thing within it?

KEY WORDS(Try to spot these quotes in your own feelings - especially think of the day before) :
- "I am a virgin and feel awkward sexually"
- "it was sexually inappropriate"
- "yesterday he acted in a way that was really quite sexually intimidating"
- "he just uses women"
- "I feel really insecure around older men"
- "I feel a lot of anger towards men in general"
- "at the time I loved my ex but now all those special moments seem so degrading"
- "I felt totally humiliated"
- "I feel so powerless and abused"
- "I felt sick"
- "They lied and cheated and took advantage of me"
- "It was the worst thing that could have happened to me"

Well parents can symbolise your own need for safety and assurance. Perhaops thye show that things were going too fast for you that day

------------------------
When you get a dream think carefully about which direction you are currently looking. Are you looking back towards yesterday and something that happened and how you reacted. Or are you looking forward to the day to come. If you are looking forward then its likely the dream is about some thoughts or fears about the day to come.

These pages are especially helpful in showing you how to interpret dreams

Hi,
Sometimes a robber means someone who gives a proposal.
To rape if the man was unknown means she will achieve a wish,
If was known means he will do a big unwilling favor. This may happen a month later.
Good luck.
