| Nightmares! Horrors in the night? Do you wake up screaming, or wish you hadn't fell asleep in the first place? Post it here, or if you are good at helping folks interpret these kind of dreams, then do so here. Maybe you will get a good night's sleep. ; |

something similar to what you're going through my entire life. In your case, I think the PTSD plays a large part in it. I think your "waking up" may not be part of the dream, and if it is it is most likely an effect of the PTSD.
The reason I say I don't think it's part of the dream is because all my life, whenever I've had nightmares, I've been completely aware in them that it was just a bad dream, and if I could only scream I would wake myself up. So in the dream, I try and try to scream, but of course it never comes out and I think I'm trapped, but I keep trying and eventually I wake up with a start and sometimes I even wake up yelling like I was in the dream. It's my conscious mind telling me how to get away from the scary stuff. It might be the same for you, but maybe you also feel subconsciously that you can't get away from the nightmares. |

i have had the exact issue. someone is on top of me and covers my mouth, i can consiously feel myself trying to move with all my strength, just slightly being able to move side to side, so i scream but in my dream i hear nothing like its a lost cause. i have even had my parents come in and wake me up to tell me to stop.....im guessing its just the dream and the way it works. but you are probably dreaming about waking up or just getting a sense of falling back
