I grew up in a violently paranormally active house. Ever since one specific horrific event that happened over and over again over several nights nearly 30 years ago I've been having this same nightmare ( I was 6 or 7 years old). I will not go into details as to what the paranormal event was, it is just too disturbing, and the whole family witnessed this. I've done everything in my dreams and in life to try to make the nightmare go away. I used faith in God, I used psychology and faced the fears, relived the memory, wrote it out, shared with others, but no matter what I do, I keep having this same nightmare and I can't get it to stop. Please help.
October 24th 2009 I dreamed that I was back in the house in East Liverpool I grew up in. I was getting dressed and after I got dressed in the bright sunshine an unseen force roughly pushed me out of my room and shut my bedroom door so I couldn't get back in. I was going to confront this force. I checked out the bathroom. There was no signs of ghostly activity. The bathroom was clean and normal. I was then in the adjacent bedroom. This bedroom was dark and there was the presence of evil in it. I was alone. I started to hear the voices of the demons there. I was angry. I was shouting at them, casting them out in the name of Jesus. I kept shouting at them until the threatening voices stopped and the atmosphere returned to normal and the darkness disappeared. Sunshine came back into the room. I was ready to fight it off forever. I looked around and went through the rest of the house looking for other ghosts or demons and found none. How can I get these dreams to stop?

First of all, it would help if you stopped believing in the supernatural. Any ghosts or presences you perceive are created by your own subconscious mind for your benefit! They help create the dream that makes you do what you need to do in sleep to function. Dreaming is a vital part of life. Regarding your latest nightmare: Quote:
In sleep you do exactly the same your subconscious compels you to move your hands to ease some pain. You may be suffering from RSI or writers cramp that comes on in sleep. Have your wrists checked for carpal tunnel syndrome. You may say that you dont have any! You may not feel it in the daytime. However it is an insidious condition that comes on at night, especially at 4-5 AM. Is that the time you had the dream? Cheers Wolfjk

I will not stop believing in the supernatural happens in real life. If you had even experienced a 1/4th of the experiences I and my family had you would be crazy not to. I believe in God. Only God's intervention saved me. So telling me it would help not to believe is a load of crap! Trying to pretend that it wasn't supernatural actually made matters much worse to the point that some family members became nearly suicidal and only when Biblical instruction on how to handle this were used and the supernatural acknowledged was there any peace and an end. DENIAL AND ALL OTHER METHODS OR APPROACHES DID NOT WORK BUT ONLY MADE IT WORSE. In fact the only way to end the haunting was to acknowledge the supernatural. Believe me, I tried searching for other explanations, the one you mentioned as a possibility was long ago eliminated by professionals and no manifestation of the mind has multiple witnesses to same events as we did. And the answer is NO to your question. This dream has no external physical influences. So all other external factors have already been eliminated. I am only interested in getting ride of the repetitive nature of the dream. Don't lecture on beliefs since you have not had the experiences we have had making you are far from being in a position of expertise or judgement or final ultimate God-like authority on the subject. The dream is being created by the memories of those paranormal experiences like its being played over and over again so the key is somehow breaking the pattern of the dream or the memory in some way but how can this be done? It is not like a conscious compulsion which can be broken by doing something spontaneous and different in the middle or the beginning of a behavioral compulsion. I wonder if I try changing the recall or change the emotion response to the memory in someway, for example instead of remembering as a terrifying experience trying to look at it as teaching experience, because it did teach me to stand up to people bigger and tougher than me, I learned that even though I can feel helpless there is always a way to fight back. This seems to be what the dreams about it seem to be trying to get me to do anyway. I will try it and see if it has a positive impact.

HI,
Regardless of what others may say, I believe in paranormal experiences. I've had some in my home, but fortunately, they were not evil. I believe what I experienced was the previous owner, an elderly man who passed away about a year before we bought our house, was "keeping an eye" on me, especially when my husband was working nights. I'd see a man figure out the corner of my eye, standing in the doorway of whatever room I'd be in. Of course, when I'd look right at him, he'd be gone, but I felt some kind of presence there. Once, I even physically felt him brush behind me...which made me jump and scream.....only to sense him next to me laughing, because he played a joke on me (there was NO ONE else in the room with me, nothing was behind me that could have brushed against me, and my kids were SOUND to sleep in their rooms.) He was just playing around. My husband and I both heard a child's footsteps in our hallway several times, only to find my kids were SOUND to sleep. If it were them, I would have caught them up and awake. I also saw a small boy child playing with blocks in my daughter's bedroom out the corner of my eye. When I turned to look, he was gone. (I have no sons, only daughters.) I had a woman, the niece of the old man, ask if I had seen any ghosts. I was surprised when she asked, and stammered "no" out of embarrassment. I wish now I could take it back and say yes! But, I don't know her name or where she lives. Funny thing is, since we've remodelled our home, the activity seemed to stop. Maybe the old man saw we were ok, and moved on to a better place? I don't know about the child, but I haven't heard or seen him since then, either. Anyhow, just to verify....whether some people don't believe, I do. One thing about your dream that struck me was how you fought back to get rid of the evil feeling,. Have you tried visualizing the situation in your mind, and making the ending a positive one? Maybe the more it comes out positive in your mind, maybe the dreams will either stop or at least not be so bad? Just a thought!!! Good luck to you!

I will try visualizing a happier ending in my mind and see if the dream stops. I will ask the doctor about cramps. Thanks.

Well, all this depends on your point of view and perspective.
I would like to know what this 'paranormal activity' was that triggered this dream. Understanding is half the battle. I don't believe the theories about using faith to banish demons, spirits, etc. because I have found them all useless. However, what you believe will make it go away just might be what will make it go away. If you wish to talk about it, please contact me. A friend to all, Spencer9997 |
