| Nightmares! Horrors in the night? Do you wake up screaming, or wish you hadn't fell asleep in the first place? Post it here, or if you are good at helping folks interpret these kind of dreams, then do so here. Maybe you will get a good night's sleep. ; |

As I've been getting older I have been having dreams of continuosly being raped and murdered or ill have dreams of dying from being stabbed I don't understandd why in every dream I have I die a violent death I don't think I've had a normal dream since the age of 15 and I am now 18. When I was little I use to have nightmares of people pulling my spine out of my back. Anytime I get stabbed in a dream I wake up with a pain in my side. I understand dreams usually have symbols but what if the dream is reoccuring all the time. It makes it very hard for me to get a decent nights sleep and I don't think I have in years. I hate sleeping cause my dreams are scary and way to realistic. Can somebody help me please

If you feel pain in your dream and feel pain when you wake up, you can be sure that the dream was caused by the pain. Your best bet is to have a medical check up. It may be that some sleeping positions cause you pain, it may be a muscle pain, a pulled muscle in your side? You should check which side is hurting and sleep on the other side. If the dream wakes you in the middle of the night, turn onto your good side and go back to sleep. Forget about symbolism! Dreams wake you up when it is necessary to be woken. I hope you sort out your problem. Cheers Wolfjk

Just curiously....when you dreams began, even when you were little, was there any kind of trouble at home? Something that would make you feel unsafe as a child?
Emotions and memories are stored physically in our bodies. That could also explain the pain you may feel. Christiane Northrup, M.D. Dr. Northrup has a book "Women's Bodies, Women's Minds" that may be useful to you. I wish you luck!
