| Nightmares! Horrors in the night? Do you wake up screaming, or wish you hadn't fell asleep in the first place? Post it here, or if you are good at helping folks interpret these kind of dreams, then do so here. Maybe you will get a good night's sleep. ; |

I dreamed I was trapped in the garage by an arsonist. He wants me to die so he makes it impossible for me to escape and the way he gets me is by hiding in the closet. What could this mean?

A possible meaning could be as follows
The arsonist is an aspect of your shadow, the unconscious part of yourself that contains both the worst and best aspects of yourself. Often the shadow is projected onto others. The shadow wants to be 'seen' and if not acknowledged will show itself as a projection on others and or at the most inopportune times. How many times haven’t we all looked back at our actions and wondered how we could have behaved so badly… the shadow knows. (One of the goals of individuation is to become conscious of one’s shadow inorder and take ownership of it. This often requires much “dying”) This shadow hides in the closet. The closet contains your clothing - the persona, (outward identify presented to the world in general) - that you ‘ware’ but that then "gets you" The garage is a place of storage, you park in a garage. In this dream garage you’re trapped as the shadow wants you to die. To die is to enter into the life, death, life cycle. What dies is reborn, winter turns to spring. The dream suggest that you need to become conscious of a shadow element that may have to do with your persona, the identy you use to present to others, “park in” so that it no longers "gets you". (You may be projecting this element onto others, or not taking credit where credit is due, to negative result, ) By becoming conscious of this shadow attitude and or projection the attitude "dies" as you become better grounded in conscious living and who you are. Thank you all for your intelligent discourse. One time as a child, I accidentally set some burning bacon on fire and destroyed the range above the oven in the kitchen. I told one person about it, and everybody knew about it then because of the gossip and recently an acquaitance mentioned it and blamed me. I'm not an arsonist but that may have been the impetus for the dream.
I also feel bittersweet, ambivalent feelings toward fire or passion in relationships. I fear the intensity or power of a love affair that is too focused on sex and attraction, without friendship or love there. I guess I am afraid of getting hurt emotionally by something that is a physical act rather than a caring friendship. |
