recently i have had not one but several reccuring nightmares, in one i am being chased by an alligator, it started out as just me but then my friends began appearing in this one. In another i am being chased by a snake, example me and a friend are swimming in a lake and see a snake that is like 20 feet around whenever we get to the bridge to leave the lake the cars are just running into the snake and either veering to the left which throws them into the water and they drown, or veering to the right where there is dry land but thats where the snakes head is and they are eaten by the snake i wake up right before its my turn to decide. i have had nightmares since my grandma died two weeks ago and it all started with my dreaming of going to a funeral the night before she passed away, a few others i have had are being mutluated in front of people who are my friends and they wont let me into a building where there is saftey, being chased by strangers, teaching in my old high school where suddenly someone comes in and kills everyone.

To dream that you are running away from the alligator, indicates that you are unwilling to confront some painful and disturbing aspect of your unconscious. There is some potentially destructive emotion that you are refusing to acknowledge and owning up to.
When dreaming of any animal, it is important to keep in mind that the animal is representing not only the symbolism of that animal, but also your own feelings and emotions. Our feelings take on animal form in dreams because this allows us to keep the emotions at arms length. We can look at the animal and explore the concepts behind it with out being overwhelmed by the accompanying emotion. By morphing our emotions into animal symbolism we can 'see' them and deal with them. |
