hi last week i had a dream that i was lying on a bed looking at the wall and i tried to sit up but i couldnt and no matter how hard i tried i couldnt move. I tried my best to cry out for help but it didnt work i just couldnt talk.then all i could see was darkness.

Hi,
This is a common dream. if you look up "Sleep parelysis" or look at this thread, you will get an idea.
The dream is dreamt to frighten you awake with the idea that you are "paralysed. It is a strong waking agent. The reason for the dream is usually stress combined with bad sleeping position. Lying on ones back and looking at the ceiling or wall causes heavy breathing and breathlessness.
No earthshattering meaning! You had to be woken - that is all!

Sleep paralysis is a condition that may occur in normal subjects or be associated with narcolepsy, cataplexy, and hypnagogic hallucinations. The pathophysiology of this condition is closely related to the normal hypotonia that occur during REM sleep. When considered to be a disease, isolated sleep paralysis is classified as MeSH D020188. Some evidence suggests that it can also, in some cases, be a symptom of migraine.

Treatment starts with patient education about sleep stages and about the muscle atonia that is typically associated with REM sleep. For most healthy individuals, avoiding chronic sleep deprivation is enough to relieve symptoms. It is recommended that patients be evaluated for narcolepsy if symptoms persista

You should type "Sleep Paralysis" in the Search Engine here....you will get MANY hits.....By reading though them you will find your answer.
