i just woke from a one of the most horrible nightmares i have ever had.

i was in a building where i went to school years ago, with someone else and my mother. i also had my 15 month old daughter with me. my mother was drunk and annoying me, she kept saying oh look a dog and pointing to a corner that was just out of my sight. i scolded her for being drunk and irritating.
in the back of my mind i kept hearing people telling me that it (whatever it is) will play tricks on me. it wasnt like i was hearing voices, more like i was thinking about things people had said to me.
somehow it skipped to being in my home and something was making a lot of noise. i thought i could hear a child crying over the noise but i ignored it remembering about it playing tricks on me. i suddenly realised it was my child and i rushed to her, trying to calm her. i nearly had her off to sleep when my mother came out to ask me something loudly then put the washing machine on, which of course all made sure my daughter was wide awake and i gave my mum a hard time for that.
suddenly im back in the building from school. im all too aware something is wrong. i am holding my daughter, standing in a corridor looking through doors at a staircase. i see a girl coming up the stairs faster than possible and i feel the fear in me heighten. as she comes through the door i realise her eyes are black and she is some kind of demon. its all over in a split second and she ploughs straight into me, grabbing me and knocking me on my back. i 'wake' with a start but i am still in my dream. i keep asking about my daughter as i was holding her and i am told 'not to think about the baby'. i see myself sitting on the bench at the bottom of the school staircase, my little girl wanders past. i see myself put my hand out but its like shes gone and her spirit is saying goodbye. whatever the demon was, it took her from me.

i woke up to my daughter crying and breathed a sigh of relief. but i still feel so uneasy upon waking. does it mean anything?

The subconscious uses the fastest and most effiscent method to wake you up when there is an urgent need to wake up.
The only reason for your dream was that you needed to wake up because your daughter was crying.
The reason for the violent and vivid dream was that you were sleeping in a position that needs a strong dream to wake up from.
