not sure where to begin. my nightmares started when I was young, maybe 5 or 6. I had a dream that I was walking down a hallway for what seemed like forever, I get to the end and theres a door, when I open it I see a big city in flames, like there was a war going on. I woke up and went to crawl in bed with my parents and on the way there. . .I saw something sitting on the mantle. we just stared at eachother for a minute, I was so scared all I could say was go away, it pointed at me then the next thing I know i'm laying on the floor being woken up by my mom.
I have had ALOT of really bad nightmares since then, theres to many to name all right here, but all of them showed me something gruesome and most of them start with me opening a door. and lately I have been wakeing up in the middle of the night with a black figure standing over my, so close I could touch it (if I wanted to). i'm not sure why but lately my past dreams have weighed very heavy on my thoughts, it's been keeping me up at night. I dont know if anybody can tell me what they mean if anything, but I thought that maybe if nothing else I wont feel so crazy if I know i'm not alone. I have tryed praying and nothing, I have tryed talking to everybody I can think of to talk to and nothing, not even my brothers tarot cards came up with anything. i'm going to be 23 this year and I havent had a good nights sleep without drugs my whole life. I guess if anybody has any input that would be great. D |

Dreams are about what happens in sleep. You were probably allergic to some foods, and that caused your early nightmares. Many people have similar nightmare to yours. Read this long thread: click here Quote:
Bad dreams are often caused by food allergy or bad sleeping positions. Sleeping on your back or belly can cause nightmares. Dreams dont mean anything, they are dreamt to make you change your sleeping positions when you need to move, but the main purpose of dreams is to wake you up. The first thing you should do is to come off the medicine or drugs you're taking. Cheers Wolfjk

I don't have any answers for you on how to stop the nightmare but I know where your coming from. I to have had horriable, vivid nightmares since childhood too. For me it's also embarressing because I sometimes wake up screaming my lungs off. I find that it sometimes helps my nightmares to be less frequent if I take something of comfort with me to bed (I know this sounds weird of a 30 yr old woman).

Im not exactly a psychologist but if it were me interpreting a dream about opening doors leading to nightmarish situations I would fathom a guess that it would be a fear of change. IDK about black figures pointing at you either but if you think about it there are doors of oppurtunity and a door reminds me of something new beyond the place you are in...maybe an alice in wonderland type reference...
I hope this helps, and I would offer that if you are having the door dreams again lately that maybe there is a change coming that you are worrying excessively over. |

I get what you mean completely.
To be honest - noone likes nightmares, I find it helpful if I have someone in the same room as me when i go to sleep, or get a pet dog? Maybe that would give you some kind of subconcious feeling of protection while you sleep?
