I could here talking in the otther room I think it was two people talking about the shock I was going to get they were saying "Wait for it to get to 350 and then we'll put him down" I was freaking out now but befor I could do anything every thing goes black and the PAIN. never in a lucid dream have I fealt such pain. It was like being in a car conpresser. I could not breath for what felt like for ever I was shaking on the floor I could see again and breath again but the pain was worse! Light was flashing in front of me I could hear only a loud ring sound and then I heard a bang and I woke up, shaking and out of breath.

Dear Mattimeo,
That sounds quite traumatic. I’ve felt pain on a couple of occasions during a lucid dream, but nothing as shocking as that. This is quite interesting when I think about it. Having been killed in dreams in a few horrific ways, I have never felt any pain going through the death. But at other times, I felt my hands seriously burning (another being was doing something to them, and it was extremely painful – I was trying to get away and wake up to get away from it). Also something pushing my back - like someone putting their thumb really hard into it and pushing me upwards. In wonder if this is about energy being blocked or just energetic changes? I’m not sure. I wonder if your body is going through some kind of energy change? Have you felt any other kinds of vibrations or anything? Ever dreamt of an atom bomb and actually felt the impact of the explosion (but no pain)? That is meant to be about spiritual awakening. Either that or you were kidnapped and experimented on by aliens? Take care idgy

I believe that Idgy is headed in the right direction.
Often the images that we see are symbols of our spiritual or physical selves – sometimes a combination of both. The two electric wires are symbolic of the Ida and Pingala nadis, which are located on either side of the spine. Between them is the Sushumna nadi. They are in your chest because they are located at the 4th or the heart chakra. It sounds like the dreamer is experiencing an opening of the 4th chakra. The two people in the other room said something about putting you down when the current gets to 350. If we accept that this dream is symbolic of a spiritual or kundalini awakening, then the 350 could have something to do with such an awakening. And, it does. While she is sleeping or dormant (if you will), this kundalini energy remains at the base of the spine. She is often compared to a serpent. This serpent is coiled around herself 3 ½ times. The light, the sound, the electric shock are all consistent with an awakening of the kundalini. So, how do you keep from having this pain in the future? I’m not sure. However, I have heard that resistance to the awakening only increases the unpleasantness of the symptoms. Hope this helps and is not too confusing. |

Hello Lugus,
It's really good to read your post and know there is someone else on this forum who is coming from the same direction. It is really refreshing. I agree with exactly what you are saying. I felt that if he were in pain, then it was certainly his physical body going through something. If it were an illusion and dream, there would be no pain. You obviously have a good knowledge of kundalini. Can I ask you a question please? Have you, or have you heard of anyone experiencing kundalini in their sleep? (It's also good to see correct spelling and grammar as well - unusual on a forum) Take care idgy

Oh yes – I have read of kundalini related experiences while sleeping. However, my understanding is that the actual process of kundalini traveling from the base of the spine and reaching the crown chakra is rarely accomplished in one day. This is one reason why kundalini symptoms can be experienced over many years. It often seems like it is when we are resting that we are most susceptible to such experiences. This may be when we are sleeping or on the verge of going to sleep. As for me, I’ve had some kundalini experiences but the most memorable ones were a series of dreams about the opening of the heart chakra. See Series of Dreams on Back Related Problems for more info. For at least the last two years, I have been feeling a hot spot on my upper back. I have noticed that many people, who are experiencing such an awakening, will go through a series of many dreams that are all about increased spirituality. I’ve also noticed that people who are going through such an awakening are often attracted to others with similar experiences. And, if you are interested, I have also posted some information on the signs and symptoms of kundalini at http://www.sleeps.com/forums/general...chat/19307.htm . Most of these symptoms were probably experienced by the author of this article -- a woman (now deceased) who went by the name of El Collie. |

Hello Lugus,
Thanks for your post. I have also read your other post on the general forum. I have come across that writing by El Collie before when I was looking into kundalini symptoms. It all made a lot of sense. I have been through quite a bit of stuff during my sleep, that is why I am obviously so interested in this forum. I wonder if you can answer this for me? I understand all the symptoms of kundalini, but what would kundalini feel like when activated? Would it feel like a huge wind rising up in and around you? Or is that just being sensitive to the energy around you? There are quite a few other things I have felt during my sleep that I think are related to this. What I am really interested in is using sleep time and lucid dreams as spiritual practice and working through fears. I know the Tibetan lamas practice sleep yoga, but I have never had first contact with anyone who does this. It's very interesting to talk to you. Best regards, idgy

Hi Idgy,
Sorry to take so long to get back with you on this. What would kundalini feel like when activated? I have read (somewhere on the internet) that when it awakens that you will know it. This is probably true for most people but I’m not sure if it always true. The problem with this is the large variety of symptoms as well as the differences in their severity among different people. I have noticed that many of kundalini experiences that I read about mention some activity at the base of the spine. It may be the feel of a “snap” or a grinding feeling that come from the first turning of rusty gears or cogwheels. As for me -- although I am interested in kundalini and such, I doubt that my kundalini has been awakened but I may be wrong. I am certainly not an expert on the subject. But, I have noticed that even experts can disagree. You also mentioned that you felt a huge wind rising up in and around you. If you can feel the wind inside of you, I believe that this is a good sign of an awakening. Sometimes, people will feel this wind coming out of the top of the head or out of the throat chakra. (In our dreams, wind is a common symbol of the spiritual.) Kundalini-Gateway has several postings of the awakening experiences of different members at Kundalini Gateway: Tales of Awakening: Index . Additional information is also at Kundalini Gateway: Member Polls and Surveys Index. . (BTW – Kundalini-Gateway is full of stuff that we see in our dreams.) In my opinion, part of the confusion with an awakening is that the mechanics or sequence of the awakening is not well known. And, even when it is known, it can be very confusing. One of the best sites on the finer points of the actual awakening process is at Kundalini Index . In his writings, Swami J gives six steps in the awakening process: # 1. Prana usually flows in Ida or Pingala # 2. Prana is made to flow in Ida and Pingala # 3. Prana is made to flow in Sushumna # 4. Kundalini energy is Awakened # 5. Kundalini is led upwards # 6. Kundalini rises to Sahasrara, the crown chakra As you see, prana flows through the Ida, Pingala and Sushumna Nadis before the awakening of kundlaini. This flow of prana can be confused with the flow of kundalini. Here is what Swami J wrote. “Mistaking Sushumna for Kundalini Awakening: Prana flowing in Sushumna is extremely peaceful, and can easily be confused with Kundalini Awakening. As you feel the tranquility, along with the warmth flowing through the levels of the spine, this calmness is very alluring, and when reading the books about Kundalini Awakening, it can seem as if, "This is it!" There is a difference between the flow of Prana through Sushumna and full Kundalini Awakening, with that Kundalini energy itself rising. Both Prana and Kundalini are forms of the universal energy of Shakti, though here, at this stage, it is still Prana that is flowing in Sushumna (To see the differences between these forms of Shakti, take a look at the article on Shakti, Kundalini, and the River). Full Kundalini Awakening is extremely powerful, as this full charge awakens and begins to move upwards.” Kundalini Awakening - Prana flows in Sushumna If prana flows through the different chakras, there may be a feeling that they are being open due to kundalini. Thus, this prana opening of the chakras could be confused with the chakra opening due to kundalini. As for lucid dreaming, I can remember only one lucid dream. So, I really can’t tell you much based on my own experiences. Thanks for mentioning sleep yoga. I never heard of it. One question that I have been thinking about and maybe you can help. If a chakra is opening, does that mean that kundlini has been awakened? El Collie wrote, “The Chakras and Kundalini are really inseparable; when the Kundalini rises, the Chakras begin to open up. If the Kundalini has not been activated, it is not possible to awaken all the Chakras.” Branded by the Spirit (BTW -- I used to believe that the rising energy of kundalini would pierce the chakras in sequence, from bottom to top. Now I am not so sure. According to El Collie, such is not the case. “The movement of the Kundalini isn't like baseball; it doesn't have to touch all the bases to reach home with a fireworks explosion. The Chakras may awaken in any order.” Branded by the Spirit ) Thus, she seems to be saying that chakras can be opened in many different possible sequences. And, if any chakra is opened, it is a sign that kundalini has started her ascent. However, Swami J seems to be saying that the rising kundalini pierces the chakras in sequence – from bottom to top. “After Kundalini Awakening …, its full force is then guided through the Sushumna channel, much like the Prana that came before (though now in its full force), systematically piercing, and moving through one after another of the chakras along the way.” Kundalini Rising To make this whole thing even more confusing, people are born at different stages of development. If you were born at his step #4, Kundalini energy is Awakened, you might wonder why you never had the earlier experiences. And, there are some who are born at the last step in the awakening process, #6. Kundalini rises to Sahasrara, the crown chakra. This probably didn’t help you that much or answer your questions – unfortunately. |
