Dream of vacation from hell

I dreamt that my husband and I were on vacation with the inlaws. I was walking on the beach and there were what I thought were strips of mud on my legs and my feet. I tried pulling them off but they were painful. I found out from a local that they were sand worms and not harmful. But I kept getting them on me and was pretty freaked out. Then we were eating in a restaurant with big glass walls and it was as though it was right in the ocean. I could see a couple swimming together and they repeatedly kept going into a natural whirlpool. The fellow never seemed to go under, but she would slip in and then pop up yards away and swim back to him. I heard my husband say, when I commented how violent the waves looked, that he heard that they are hoping the water doesn't catch on fire since it's so hot.

The dream/nightmare had my heart just pumping like crazy.

This dream is trying to tell you something! The subconscious can't speak so it is trying to get your brain working by alluding to some irritating experiences - real or imagionary! The holiday with the in-lows and irritating worms! the dream is giving you a hint that it was caused by you eating something that gave you heartburn!
I commented how violent the waves looked, that he heard that they are hoping the water doesn't catch on fire since it's so hot.
The fire indicates that you were indeed suffering indigestion and heartburn in your sleep!
What caused it? Was it something you ate? or was something annoying you?
