Dreams with smell

I had a recurring dream growing up. It always seemed to be connected with the smell of sulphur. There was a doberman that belched steam and skulked around at night and sounded like a steam locomotive. A being would steal children, bring them up to an attic and pill their bones out and pile them up. the kids were blobs with faces by then. The being was scary but I dont know if I ever really saw its face. This happened several times a year between the ages of 8 and 12....I am a woman and yes I started menstruating around that time..any connection? By the way....I am not afraid of dogs and the dob was just a presence, it never actually did anything bad, just gave the idea that it was bad.
Any thoughts or direction?

I hope i got that right but I too can smell and feel things in my dreams. I once and will never forget I was eating a styrophome ball? The taste, tecture, smell ect.. to this day many years later I can still feel and taste it.
