| Nightmares! Horrors in the night? Do you wake up screaming, or wish you hadn't fell asleep in the first place? Post it here, or if you are good at helping folks interpret these kind of dreams, then do so here. Maybe you will get a good night's sleep. ; |

Just a note: Devil Dave, the originator of this thread, hasn't made a post since JUNE 16, 2008. I don't think he's here anymore. The conversation about the drawing of the demonic-like image is interesting though. Carry on.

See the headlines? "Devil Dave is scared of demon". I am not scared of a demon, for they always run from me.

Last July I was in a pseudo dream state (not really sure if I was dreaming or not). I had a weight on my chest and was unable to breathe or move. I had a female figure on top of me. The figure was grey but she had no mouth. She had a slender attractive appearance. I was terrified but curious at the same time. I asked her for her name and in a masculine voice she replied in a weird tongue that I have, to my knowledge, never heard before. She said "Scionsea (?)" and in the same sentence used the word "Beezlebub". In between those two words was something else I can't recall. I told myself it rhymed with "Science" in case I would forget it when I awoke. I believe it was "Sciensea" or something. I am aware of the meaning of "Beezlebub". Either way, it was in a weird dialect that I cannot consciously duplicate or even think about. I awoke momentarily or at least was more conscious but slowly fell back into the same state. I heard weird chants and a different human voice spoke in a hispanic gangster tone "Are you ready for tomorrow?" This actually means something to me in regards to my profession. That same week several events occurred that were out of the ordinary, nothing influencing anyone close to me luckily, but personal events where I encountered dead and dying people at work. As for this dream being recurring, I'm not sure. I had the same type of dream of a grey figure standing next to my bed seven years ago but I don't think it was a female figure. It wasn't as vivid and nothing occurred afterword. As a child, I had recurring dreams of clowns and puppets standing next to my bed, again, not sure if they were dreams or what. In fact, growing up, I always interpreted them as something beneficial. It wasn't until this recent dream that I ever thought of demons or anything of the sort.
I consider myself somewhat spiritual but have no affiliation with any institutionalized religion. I do dream very vividly at times and have had a couple other dreams directly warning me of dangers to come. I have watched horror movies since I was a child so I may have dialects and chants hidden somewhere in my brain that only come out in the subconscious. Anyway, I haven't had another dream like this since. |

Hello,
I don't know much about the world of dream interpretations honestly. I have never really studied it. However, from my own experience with dreams and nightmares, I have found the re-occuring dreams to be the most interesting, and the nightmares to be the most stressful. I think it would be interesting for you to analyze your dream. I have had a nightmare with a strange dark figure in it. I was flying but could not get above a certain point. and I would lower in a hovering way occasionally to where the dark figure could almost grab me. It was weird. I've heard a few people tell me that if I watch scarey movies, then I'd have nightmares. But I hadn't watched any scarey movies when I had that nightmare. My thought is that there is something bothering you, and maybe there's a bad person around you. |

Yes, flying or floating dreams are my favorite, and I've had dreams like the one you described, that is, evading threats with use of flight. I can increase my chance of vivid dreams by increasing the temperature in the house and going to bed when I'm extremely tired. The dream I described above with the demon thing was during warmer temps after not having any sleep for over 20 hours. During these times, I often have complete control over my dreams which include focusing in on objects, almost like analyzing something with telescoping vision when reading or analyzing small objects. I haven't mastered remembering the symbols though, only what something rhymes with. I've had dreams where I try to write down, in my dream, the information I'm getting as though I can bring the information back with me. I've also had dreams where I have telekinetic powers and the ability to fly which leads to great dissappointment when I wake up to find it was only a dream.

You describe an enthausiastic lucid dreamer. Perhaps you have been influenced by reading about lucid dreaming written by persons who have been humoured by their own subconscious to believe they can do fantastic things in lucid dreaming? If you are very keen on lucididity and think a lot about it before the sleep, your own subconscious creates a dream that makes you believe you are lucid. However you always land back in your own bed! Sometimes with a bump! However the "information" you are trying to retrieve is always manages to loose it self on the way home!

I haven't done any reading on it but thoroughly enjoy the experience when it happens. That is, when I have control. It's like the best virtual reality ride ever, and one that you hate to see end. It's like waking up and realizing your back on this boring planet with all the limitations of being human. As for bringing the information back, you're absolutely right, it's very difficult to retain small details especially symbols like letters in a certain order that form words. I can generally get the first two or three letters but if it rhymes with nothing in my dream I can't bring it back with me. Like in the demon dream, I heard it say the name of the demon, but had to relate the name with a word it rhymed with which then allowed me to remember the name which I wrote down when I woke up.
