Being held hostage *please help*

Hi,
I don't know if I believe in being able to interpret dreams as I'm a scientist and I'm aware that it's your brain just sifting through that days information and filing away anything important. But I've just had a dream that truly chilled me and I need some answers.

I'll go into as much detail as possible.

Ok, so I was in the pub where I work and my fiance (Andy) was in the flat upstairs with his housemate Rowen and her boyfriend Matt. And this guy came in with a gun and told us that he was holding us all hostage and that if the police came in he was going to shoot us all and then himself. he looked like a guy I met in there last week (who I ended up having a drunken heart to heart with) but it wasn't him. If that makes sense. He wasn't after money, he didn't seem to have a motive.
He asked if there was anyone upstairs, and I told him just Rowen, because I wanted Andy to stay safe. He said there was a way to check and fired the gun outside. Then he took me and a regular (Duncan, who I'm not close to, he just comes in a lot) outside for a cigarette. He (the hostage taker guy) was really flirty with me and I was telling him about how I'd been held hostage earlier that day, but that I'd made friends with the guy and he'd gone away. He told me that I was a clever girl and I did the right thing; that there were lots of psychological games I could play to gain the upper hand, but he wasn't going to tell me any of them. We laughed a bit.
I got up and walked round the garden because I had cramp in my legs (I think this might have been because I just watched football/soccer). Then we went inside again.
I went into the back room and Andy was sitting there. I walked over to him asking him why he'd come and calling him stupid and I just kept saying "I can't believe you came", and he just looked at me and said "Of course I came, I couldn't leave you. If we're going to die, we're going to die together. It won't hurt and it won't be scary. I won't leave you."

And then I made myself wake up and I was crying...

So, any clues as to what the hell is going on in my head?

If dreamt his/her child or his wife or a friend was a hostage means someone will oppress him/her.
If dreamt someone was his hostage means that a person will need him.
