Hi,
Yes, the dram is as strange as it sounds. I have an idea about some of it, but hopefully someone can give me some other ideas! The dream is in many parts: 1. I dreamed that I have to go to the music college I attended to play in either a lesson or rehearsal. I get there, and I wander looking for where I need to go. I know that I'm going to be late. 2. Next thing I know, I'm in a small building. It is supposedly a JS Bach museum (a composer who lived from 1675-1750). I walk into a sitting room that has a couch, and a desk. TO the left is a hallway with many doors. The first door is the office. I look into the other doors, and see many displays of old items. I find an old trombone. I play it. I take it out somewhere and play it. I come back into the museum. It is no longer the Bach museum, but the GF Handel museum (another composer who lived at the same time as BAch). I hear the museum director (who is older, 60s gray hair, odd mannerism) and his secretary (40's w/curly red hair) having sex in the office. I'm appalled. The director's wife (sweet, short brunette) seemed oblivious. The director comes out, and sits on the couch next to me. He remarks how pleased he was to see that I can really play Handel's trombone. He then starts to kiss me on the face and neck passionately. I firmly tell him only my husband can do this. I get up and leave. I return again, and he treats me like i have no priviledge being there. 3. I remember that I need to donate blood at the student union building. I hurry, but it's dark, and there are no lights to see by. I'm afraid as I cross the street toward the buliding. I come across 2 boys I know, who are jousting (or duelling) with bananas. The bananas are dangerous, and scare me. I try to get past them, As I go between them, they hit me hard with the bananas. (it was really dark, but I could see the yellow of the bananas very clearly.) 4. I'm in the student union building, and in a large room, with 10 minutes to spare. However, the blood drive was closing down. I see my step brother, and he asks "What's your blood type?" I tell him, and he says "We REALLY need that type. Let her donate." A 20 year old girl has me lay on a wooden table. SHe checks my left hand for a vein. She then checks my right hand. SHe takes a needle to sample my blood from my finger. SHe pokes the needle under all my finger nails, then she stabs my palm VERY hard, and puts all her weight on it. I'm mortified when I lift up my hand, and blood runs out of my hand and down my arm. I then wake up. (I think I woke up wimpering or crying, in fact.) Again, I'm sorry this was long. MAybe someone can give me help on any part of it. I appreciate all my friends (old and new) here! Thanks!

The trombone, bananna, and needle are often sexual references to the male reproductive organ in dreams. The dreams seem to reflect a fear of sexual intimacy and sexual exploitation.
Playing the musical instrument could represent oral sex. I wonder if the man making a pass at you could represent your husband trying to get you to be more sexually adventurous but you feel uncomfortable with the idea. Men Dueling with bananas can symbolize how men are often compete sexually, and are proud their organs. Since one of the men hit you with a banana, this would seem to be a man trying to get you have sex a little differently then what you are comfortable with. The episode with the needle under the figure nail again can represent aggressive sex where it is painful.

Hi Brightdreamer
What instrument do you play? Your dream is not as bizzare as you think! If you know the history of J.S. Bach, he was a very sexy man! You will also know about Handels music for brass instruments. Quote:

Hi!
Thanks for your replies! Wolfjk, I am a brass player. Trumpet is my major instrument. I do play other brass on occasion. There are a couple of situations in my life where the interpretations make sense. One is from my past when I was young (museum, old items, etc..) The bananas being dangerous could pertain to that, also. Rocketsquirrel, your interpretations on the bananas and my husband were correct. I recently had surgery, and things aren't healed completely yet. My poor husband has been very patient, but I still hurt. I guess that I'm being anxious in that respect! THe blood donation part I can relate to both the past and present. I may need to face the pain (stabbed hand, as a representaion of past pain and the present situation). The blood may mean I'm being drained. As far as the composers, I just taught my students about them recently. I LOVE Baroque music. Maybe it was a pleasant diversion in my dream. THanks again!!!!

Hi there.
Those are an interesting set of dreams. Did you have them all on the one night? I have to say that I don’t agree that the interpretation of the dream is at all sexual. That’s a bit too Freudian - he even thought straw hats represent phallic symbols, for goodness sakes! Thinking that anything long like a needle or a banana represents a phallic symbol is making the mistake of ‘if it looks like such and such, therefore it must represent such and such’. Generally, do not judge by appearances. That’s not how dream images work, no matter what the dream dictionaries say! When I interpret my own dreams, the clue to the meaning of the dream is not some random association with past events that appear. It will relate to what is on my mind right now. That doesn’t mean to say one’s past won’t be involved in some way because past experiences make us the people we are now, but dreams address current issues. The dream will be shedding light on those issues, whatever they are. Let’s take your image of two youths duelling with bananas. We talk about ‘going bananas’ or that something is ‘bananas’ meaning it doesn’t make sense or is crazy. I suggest that the boys in your dream were having an argument (duelling) and that it was driving you crazy or didn’t make sense. You know these boys so that is also significant. The clue to what exactly they represent would be found by asking what do you think about these boys? How would you describe them? (For example, a colleague of mine was in one of my dreams recently. Her presence was the clue to the meaning. I associate this colleague particularly for her enthusiasm and that gave me the clue to her presence, in other words, I was feeling very enthusiastic about a project I was working on. There was more to the dream than that, but enthusiasm was the starting point.) The museum director takes a shine to you. Again, that doesn’t mean sex. It means something along the lines of someone presenting you with an attractive idea that you reject. (You reject the man’s advances in the dream.) What the exact relevance is to your husband is uncertain for there isn’t enough background information to go on. What I do notice is that there is a theme of being rushed for time. You are late in the first part and it’s nearly closing time at the blood donation centre. Are you feeling a bit rushed at the moment? That is all I can contribute without more background information. I don’t know what Bach or Handel might represent for you personally. They were both composers. But the clue to what they represent will be found by how you describe these composers. Are they both baroque composers? What is it about baroque music that you like so much? These are the sorts of questions I suggest you should be asking yourself to get at the meaning of your dream.

Hi Lost,
thanks for your reply. After some thought, I think the dream had many aspects of my life past and present all thrown in together. You made a point that rang true. Especially about the time issue and rushing. I feel like that in my job...no time to do a good job in any one thing (I teach music, and my job has me running all over the place to rehearsals in one building, classes in another.) The composers, as I mentioned earlier, I just taught about them to some of my classes. Bananas....yah, I do feel that way in my job! In my dream during the museum part, where I was being hit on by the older man, brought back some strong feelings of being violated during my youth. I felt this way before I posted and got replies on this. (My past...in dream, old items in museum=past.) WIthout going into detail here, the women in the dream play a role in these feelings, also.....I'm pretty sure I know what that part means to me now. THe blood drive part, I felt violated in that part, too. Not necessarily sexually like the previous, but I had a terrible feeling of being betrayed, hurt, and scared. So perhaps, my brain took a few issues that concerns me, and combined it all into one crazy dream! THanks to all of you who helped!!!! Peace to you!
