Dying in my sleep

Quite a long time ago I had a dream whilst holidaying in Australia. I think my wife and I were staying overnight on a ranch near Geraldton in WA.

Anyway the dream was about us lying side by side in bed together (as we were) when all of there was a noise and a commotion. As I was quickly trying to rouse myself I felt my wife at my side doing the same. We were both in the process of trying sitting up when soem one cut my throat. Immeadiately I felt my conciousness disolve into death. I was left with this sudden sense of all being lost and wondering if my wife had survived.

What actually happened is that as this actually happened in the dream I called out. This woke both myself and my wife up.

I will give your dream a shot. It seems like your dream is about a situation where you have not spoken up against or feel as though you cannot speak up against this particular situation. The commotion and noise indicates to me that there is either chaos going on in you and wife's lives or that someone is speaking poorly against you and your wife. Trying to rouse yourself out of bed could be symbolic for you trying to be proactive in taking a stand on the matter at hand. Your throat cut is where I see that you are having trouble speaking up against the situation. You dying in the dream may indicate that you believe that if you don't speak up...it will have a negative effect on you and your wife. I hope you can straighten out the matter. Be well.

You were in a strange place and probably eaten some food that you're not used to. The dream suggests that you had an acid reflux in your sleep and needed to be woken up very quickly. A sudden pain or even going to sleep in close embrace can trigger a dream like yours.

Hello John,
I just wondered how you felt during this dream? Did you stay calm throughout the whole thing or were you thrashing around? I have had quite a lot of dreams where I have been killed in horrific ways. I’m not sure why I was getting these, but each time, I knew it wasn’t happening now, and that I had to just go through it.

The last one I had was only a couple of nights ago and was particularly distressing. I was laying down with a loved one about to have my head chopped off. I just kept telling my loved one how much I loved them over and over. I knew what was coming, but didn’t feel anything, then I am flying up and away. I then had the urge to look back (big mistake). I say a bloodied head being waved on a pole. It was me. Nasty. But then I am free and flying.

I have a theory that maybe we sometimes work through fears whilst we are dreaming. If you go through it without running away, you will get rid of the fear. If you keep running from it, it will stay with you until you work through it.

The feeling I had in the dream was that it happened so quickly there was absolutely nothing I could do or could have done. No sooner had I realised what was happening then it was already to late and I was fading fast. It was a feeling of lost opportunites not just to save myself but for the loss of everything including the knowledge of whetehr my wife survived.

It was a feeling of very sudden and unexpected loss, a feeling of many things that would lnow not be done.
