Sort of reoccurring nightmare

Ever since I was small, I've had nightmares about tornadoes. This would make sense, considering I used to be terrified of them when I was little. (I actually used to pack up my pink Barbie suitcase with my favourite toys and clothes and hide in the basement whenever a tornado watch was posted! I live in northern Minnesota, so naturally I've never actually been through a tornado)

A recent example would be a dream where I was driving in the downtown area of the city I live in with my father in the passenger seat. We were going to pick up my mother from someplace when the sky went dark gray, looking very ominous. I knew there was going to be a tornado, and for some reason, also knew that my mother was on the roof of some building. I told my dad to take the driver's seat, as I SUPERJUMPED (pretty sweet, actually) to the top of a building and leaped from building to building, racing the tornado that had formed to find my mother. I woke up before I could find her.

Any ideas?

Maybe the tornado means that you're scared of something that you dont really need to be. Since you said you'd freak out at just a warning of them.

The leaps could mean you might feel the need to push yourself all the time to be something?[not trying to be judgemental] From fitting in, to hiding a secret, to do better than others at something...etc. it could also mean that youre trying to find something once lost. It could be an item, a person, an emotion.
Because you woke up before you got to your mother, you might be JUST missing what you should find. Like, youre soooo close, but not there yet.
Keep an eye out on any further addition to the dreams. It could be at any point in the dream.
