Default Facing The Shadow Part Of Myself

Dreamed March 26th, 2008 Wednesday

Since I have been 'searching my heart on my bed' as commanded in Psalms, my dreams have been more insightful. I dreamed I was in the house on Deblin Drive. Uncle Wayne was visiting with us. I went to the kitchen. I had a number of plants growing there. I walked down to the basement and noticed the pots of soil I had sitting on the sink had an abundance of plants growing out of them. I was very surprized by this. I had not taken any great care to plant much and made no effort to care for bulbs or seeds I tossed into the pots as an after thought, almost throwing them away. I thought they would rot and not grow anything, especially down here in the basement. There was lavender and scallions growing, onions were growing, and so was garlic. I also had garlic growing in just plain water in the refridgerator. I walked to my bedroom. It was dark. I turned on the light. Some kind of invisible arm came through the wooden door and squeezed my left arm. I looked down, and saw a round burn near my elbow, and another wound, a round gouge. I looked on other side of the door and to my surprize, no one was there. My arm was also covered in black ash. My Mom was nearby and I said to her, 'Look, something grabbed me. It didn't hurt when it touched me but I am injured.' She briefly looked at my round wounds. She brought a warm wet cloth to me to wash off the ash. The bad spirit was back. I debated to myself if I should ask Uncle Wayne for help or advice on this since he has experience, but I decided this was a private matter. Past excorcisms failed. Casting it out in the name of Jesus seemed to have no affect. It must be something else. I told Dad about it. Dad and I went to my room to confront the entity. Dad asked it to show itself, show power. All that happened was that my lamp swayed slightly. Dad asked to speak what it wants. All it did was make this wicked witchy laugh that reminded me a little of the Bell Witch. Dad said to it, "You must not be very powerful if that is all you can do." I was not afraid anymore. I walked into my room and said to the thing, 'I want to tell you that none of us are afraid of you anymore.' I walked away.

Thoughts and feelings on dream:

The entity that doesn't respond to excorcism, or flees only to come back later, means it is a part of me. One of the explanations for the Bell Witch is that it was a manifestation of one of the Bell's daughter's subconsious expressing itself in paranormal activity. It is not an entity from outside, but rather, a part of personality. It is the dark side, what it is often called, The Shadow. The Bible refers this part of ourselves as the "corruption in our flesh" that always working againist GOD and is rebellious againist all that is good so each of us has a responsibility to face it. Usually, the Shadow appears in dreams as a mock version of the dreamer. In this instance, it is so weak, so formless, it is reduced to a mere suggestion of its presence. It is weak, it causes pain, but cannot overpower me. It mocks, but cannot speak. It is a fading energy. It's power came from my fear of it. It no longer has that fear to feed from. Garlic, scallions, and onions are known for health benefits for digestion and cleansing. That I have plants growing represents that deep inside, there is growth. Everything that was growing was benefical. This means that which benefits is growing and taking over, even when I have not taken much care about what benefits me. I am becoming a healthier person. This means I am not afraid of my inperfections anymore, so they have no power over me. Confessing sin helps bring those hidden flaws we are ashamed of to the surface so that we face them. If we face them, we loose our fear of them and they no longer have power over us. Perhaps confession can alleviate nightmares by taking away some of the fear and tension we hold inside when we try to avoid the worst part of ourselves.

This dream could have easily become a nightmare if I gave into the fear. Usually a situation like this in a dream becomes a nightmare, not this time. I hope people on the nightmare forum will try confessing before bed and see if it helps prevent nightmares. I did it myself before I went to bed and it seemed to help. I could choose not to be afraid.

Default HI

Hi Rocketsquirrel,

I agree with you what you said about fear. Fear will put limitations on our souls. It will hinder our development. And we must constantly stretch ourselves and live as fearless human beings so we can live as loving people ones who love God first.

Blessings
