calling my name, and tried to avoid me from fall a sleep

I am new here, and usualy I don't mind about dreams/nightmares.
When I would have a nightmare, I awake, swet, turn around and sleep again.

But a couple of days ago, someting realy made me scared, and I was searching pages in The Netherlands, but i couldnt find much.
I realy would like to hear someone's view of my "nightmare"

Ok,
When I went to bed, I couldn't sleep (which happens very often in my life)
Then I always watch my alarmclock now and then to see what time it is.
To me I was still awake at 2.30

This was what has happend in the next 45 minits:
When I thought I finaly went to sleep, somebody called my name and tried to avoid me from sleeping by shaking me. So I looked up, but there was nobody.
So I tried to go back to sleep. Then, again when I thought I finaly could go sleep, it happend again (calling my name, and a harder shake). (like this person didn't want me to sleep)
I looked up again, and I said, wtf is this? But nothing and I tried for the third time to go sleep.
Then again (third time), when I thought again I went into sleep, again my name calling, louder and some line (which I couldnt realy understand) and a very hard shake, and alarmsounds went off.
That was it for me I said fthis, I grabbed my blanket, and went downstairs.
I became so afraid.
When this person called me and shaked me, my whole body had a strange feeling.
Also, every time I wanted to look up, I felt pressure on my body, and it seemed difficult for me to look up, I realy had to press myself to look.
There was nothing else (dream) before and between.
Just the namecalling and the shaking.

So I thought it was my father (not living anymore) to warn me for something, because I thought he said in that line "go downstairs" I looked on my cellphone to see if something was wrong with my mother, checked my daughter, but there was nothing wrong.

I think this is about it, I just would like some view, because I am a little afraid to go upstairs now. When it's dark, I dont feel realy comfortable upstairs.

I know one thing, If this was just a "dream" I hope never again.

Hi Dutch,
It sounds like you are suffering from insomnia. It is quite normal in the first half hour of sleep to hear someone call your name, hear knock on the door, hear a bell ring, have a sudden jerk in any part of the body.
What you describe is probably caused by overwork or exhaustion. A demanding job or tense family life can cause the over tiredness you describe. It is a feeling where you know you should be sleeping like a log, but you lie in the bed wideawake and ca'nt drop off to sleep.
My guess is that you lie in bed on your back. Perhaps you should try different sleeping positions; either side or in the fetal position. Lying on your back can cause nightmares.
You should dismiss any idea that there is someone else in the room, or any evil spirits.
Look at your every day routine and try to relax a bit more.

The thing is I am not suffering from insomnia, the people who are suffering from that, have that way more then me (not sleep). I just have it now and then, when something has happend, which I don't like, then I just think about what has happend, and then I sleep late.

Also I can't sleep on my back, yes maby when I finaly sleep and don't notice, but I always fall a sleep sideways, and always in fetal position. I also get awake in these positions.

The thing about overwork/exhaustion, that could be possible.

I indeed I thought it happend because there was some danger or will come, I just didn't know what, and still don't know, and guess I never will, also not in the next month.
I keep telling myself, it was just a dream.
Because if it would be my father, I would be angry cause he made me scared. Or did the unknowing made me scared ?
If something happens in the next month, I sure will let you know.

At the moment I just keep telling myself, it was just a dream. Even I am so sure I wasn't a sleep. But I guess I was awake in my dream.
I just was hoping, somebody had the same kind of thing.

After searching again, I found out, that it probably was

sleep paralysis.

Everything what I have read about this, does have the same things as what I went trough that night.

So I go to bed easy tonigh, with no fear, just with a prayer, that it will please never happen again

yeah i had that happen last night for the first time. i have friends that it has happened to. they call it scissor lock.

however your experience was not near as frighting as mine... and mine was not near as bad as my friend Dan and Davids. (no my name does not start with a D)

i friend Dan woke up to something holding him down and beating on his chest very hard. however Dan saw what it was... and it was something small. something dark. and it was jumping up and down on his chest. Dan contacted another friend(someone i do not know) and asked what was going on. Dan knew his friend had similar experiences so he thought he could help. His friend told him that whenever it happens just pray and don't be scared. IT'S HARD NOT TO BE SCARED WHEN YOU THINK ITS REALLY HAPPENING!!sleep paralysis.

the truth is it really is happening, just not in the physical world.

i feel like i should explain my experience... well im going through hard times right now, rather depressing times. so i did not go to sleep quickly at all last night. in fact i lay there and thought about the last 4 year of my life(high school) and how shity it was compared to how it could have been. i also ironic enough... did lots of think about my friends David, Dan and Ben. all of which went off to the military. David and Dan are the same David and Dan i mentioned above.
so i did not go to sleep for quite a while and i lay down to bed at around 2a.m., so i'm guessing it was pretty late when i did fall to sleep. anyways this is what happened... gosh its 3am allready and im up talking about this hahaha.

o.k. i was sleeping... i do not know how long i was asleep. when i was woken by this i was not worried about the time. i was woken by my right arm feeling very cramped up (AGAIN I WAS NOT AWAKE, BUT IT SURE SEEMED LIKE IT!!!) i instantly became frightened because my right arm was reaching out to the right and rolling my body over when i was trying to lay on my left side. natually i tried to fight the pull, but the pull got stronger. than i noticed something was wrong and i sprung out of bed to try and shake my arm out.
i was very worried after not being able to fix my arm. then i started pulling me around and i tried staying still. it was hard, but then i knew i had to go upstairs and get my dad. so i waited for the pulling to pull in the direction i wanted to go and let it pull me. when i got far enough i had to fight to stay still and fight to say on my feet even. when it pulled toward the stairs i let it pull me until i needed to go a different direction again. then i struggled a lot once again. by this time i was near the stairs and when the arm wanted to pull me toward the stairs i let it... but this time my arm yanked me to the base of the stairs and my hand flung open a storage door in my basement. when the door opened i knew THIS WAS REALLY A BAD THING PULLING ME AND I CANNOT LET IT PULL ME INTO THAT STORAGE ROOM!! so knowing that i trying to stand my ground seemed like enough for the force to be less.
when i looked on the stairs my little dog was half way up and my dad was at the top not knowing i was there. the stairs make a 90 degree turn half way up... so i made my way up to the dog and started to pet him... at this point i had began to forget about my arm yanking me all over my basement. i became more concerned with being seen by my father, because he would not have been happy with me being "awake" at that hour. when i could not feel any thing in my arm again i simply walked back to bed. i then woke later that night...(or maybe right when i got back into bed...hhmmm makes u think) and i knew exactly what happened. i knew it wasn't real (Thank God) and i knew it was scissor lock.
the odd part was that i prayed for the first time in quite some time that night before going to bed.

well now its 3:27am and i want to stay up all night just so i dont have to go to sleep in the dark. because you know the dark is where they lurk. Well i can't say i am not scared... but i can say that i am not worried. Jesus is there for me and he will not let the evil hurt me.

ya know what? i think i am going to keep music on all night to night as a precaution. i am also going to pray and add in those prayers.

just think of all the people that go through this!! imagine how bad it is for the one with little or no faith!!! Lord bless their souls!!!

oh yeah by the way i found this tread because i was searching "why can't i fall asleep on my back?"... kind of odd that i get on here and see someone talking about scissor lock. or whatever fancy name you found for it.hahah. Just kidding. i have herd the technical term for it. what was i getting at.... oh yeah!

when i was younger, 10-13 years old... i was always able to fall asleep on my back. i would lay there and just start feeling that flipping. the great spinning that felt soooo coool. or the falling you sometimes get. now later in life i looked up what those feelings were. I have found out that that is what happens when you meditate. the early stages of meditation include that falling feeling. I miss it so much and just wish i could sleep that well once again. the last time i slept on my back was when i stayed at a friends house and slept with a girl. we slept on the couch. i was on my back and she was on top of me keeping me from rolling over. i slept very very well that night.

help! i want to learn how to sleep on my back again!! i've tried and tried but i just stay awake and then after a while it becomes very uncomfortable and i roll to my side then fall asleep.

Hello, I found your message very interesting. I wonder, when you are being shaken and hearing voices caling you, do they scare you or do they not, this is very important, if it is intended to harm you ti will bring fear into you, if it does not , then it will merely feel like instruction and startle you ..... I am sure you know that we exist alive and free with spirits and other entities whom also have a free will to do and be as they want to be. I would say at that very moment soemthing was needing your immediate attention, maybe god was sending an agel to speak with you or move you .... maybe you were being asked to pray or read the bible or reach out to some one.... I don't know you at all, but have experienced the same dream/awake experience. So has my mother and brother ..... You have to seek God for answers and always sleep in a frame of mink that is at peace so you can better handle what may come while your body is unconcious. Pray for protection over your helpless body as you sleep.

You mentioned that our friend should pray before he goes to sleep and that is a very good idea, but I am confused to whom you were referring... The lord of men? king of men? god of men? As far as I know Jesus Christ is the God of gods, King of kings and the Lord of lords who came down to earth to die for all or sins and to give us the Gift of eternal life! I do not believe that there are any God as humble as Jesus or as powerful as Him or who has the amazing Love for his followers!

Jesus is the son of God silly. Weather Jesus was God in a human body no one knows. Yes pray to God through Jesus Christ.
the books say he was the Son of God. whatever this topic could be talked about forever. Jesus is my man. and i pray for all who have not found thier faith in him.

especially my one friend zack. This kid is an amazing human being. simply beautiful (you know what i mean). Although he insist that Jesus is not his savior. He believes it is all about morals. I just pry that Jesus makes his way into his heart before he passes.

not to sure if you were talking to me... but i do agree with you . you should pray before bed and it is important that you pray in the right way. for instants from now on i will do my usual prayer and then say those prayers above. I was scared yes, because i thought it was real life. I know now that if something like that happens again it is not real. as far as my case being an angel there is no way. an angel wouldn't hurt anyone or frighten anyone like that. or try and pull them into a pitch black storage room.

If you look at my title "IS" you would notice who I am was referring to....but you are right! Jesus is the son of God! Our God consists of God the father, Jesus the son and the Holy Spirit. They are One, but according to the Word you can only go to the Father through the son Jesus! When Jesus died on the cross for us the evil one was conquered, so if you give your life to Jesus you will also be a conquerer through Jesus and satan must obey your command when you rebuke him to the pitt! No more fear! When you are a born again Christian the Holy Spirit dwells in you and man are those evil ones just so afraid of Him! When you pray you must pray through Jesus name to receive the power.... did you read the link in my previous message?
The god of men, king of men, lord of men is according to the Thruth the same god of this world and he is satan. That was just my main concern, that you pray to the God of gods, Lord of lords and King of kings whom is Jesus Christ....
Jesus loves everyone, you must just feel the same way to enjoy peace in your hart and you will know what will happen the day you die!
I would like for everyone one to go to heaven, even my enemy! Just imagine a never ending life in the wrong place and you can do nothing about it!
