I have a 3 year old boy who is completely healthy and happy. I keep having these nightmares every night that there is something happening to him and i cant protect him. Each night it varries on what is happening to him but its always something that i cant help him. For instance the nightmare that i had last night was that i was walking down a flight of very steep stairs and i couldnt see the bottom i was holding my son while walking down these stairs. as i was walking there were spirtits or ghosts circeling me and moving in and out between me. I ended up losing my footing and started to fall down the steps. I grabbed onto my son and held him as tight as i could but i was losing grip of him. When i woke up from this nightmare it was bc i was shaking unconrtollably! it woke up my fiance and he thought i was having a sesure. I was very cold but my body was burning up! Another example is I had put him in his car seat and started talking to someone outside of the car but right next to it when i looked over to check on my son he was leaning foward and the seat belt on his car seat was choking him and wrapped around his neck and he couldnt breath. I ripped him out of the car seat and got him breathing again and just sat on the ground holding him and rocking back and forth. I woke up from that crying already. I will have things like a tiger will be in my home and it will walk into his bedroom and there is nothing i can do but put the attention on me to save him. It happens EVERY NIGHT to the point where i no longer sleep. I am affraid of it happening again because it is so real to me. i remember in detail down to the emotion for every dream. They never fade away. I will have physical things still remain outside of the dream. Like a pain i will carry into my awake state for the whole day. I dont know why this is happening to me now. I never had nightmares like this and i was always able to determine what was a dream and what was not and now i cant! Please help me because it is effecting my days I am no longer even able to function normally because of the lack of sleep and the fear that carries on.

okay, first I have also been having nightmares all week, however yours I can tell are straight from your psyche. Meaning, your 3 year old son is the center of your world right now, all you can think about is... I have to get up and make him breakfast, then watch winnie the pooh and then drive him to the babysitter, ect. if you couldn't, what would you do? what would your life become if he wasn't there? these are everyday thoughts about people we care about. if you have any other kids then you are suffering a thought that you want to hold him nad never let him go like your others, if not then it's even worse, you experiencing this drive for your child more than anything...even if you don't see it like that. when you're a mother you just are. Now, the small things in your dreams you rememeber like a tiger pacing and the seatbelt and the spirits and the stairs, tell much of yourself:
Tiger To see a tiger in your dream, represents power and your ability to exert it in various situations. The dream may also indicate that you to take more of a leadership role. Alternatively, the tiger represents female sexuality, aggression, and seduction. To dream that you are attacked by a tiger, symbolizes repressed feelings or emotions that frighten you. To see a caged tiger in your dream, suggests that your repressed feelings/emotions are on the verge of surfacing. Stairs To dream that you are walking up a flight of stairs, indicates that you are achieving a higher level of understanding. You are making progress into your spiritual/emotional/material journey. To dream that you are walking down a flight of stairs, suggests that you are going into your unconscious. It also refers to setbacks that you will experience in your lie To see spiral or winding stairs, signify growth and/or rebirth. Ghost In general, ghosts symbolizes aspects of yourself that you fear. This may involve a painful memory, guilt, or some repressed thoughts. You may be afraid of death and dying. Alternatively, ghosts are representative of something that is no longer obtainable or within reach. It indicates a feeling of disconnection from life and society. This dream may be a calling for you to move on and abandon your outdated modes of thinking and behavior. To dream that you reach out to touch a ghost, but it disappears, indicates that you are taking steps to acknowledging some painful or repressed thoughts even though you are not ready to fully confront them. To see the ghost of a living relative or friend in your dream, signifies that you are in danger of malice acts by that person. To see the ghost of a dead friend/relative in your dream, suggests guilt and regrets concerning the past relationships with that particular person. Strangle To dream that you or someone else is being strangled, denotes that you are repressing or denying a vital aspect of your expression. Drop To dream that you are dropping things, indicates that you are letting go some project, relationship, person, or idea. Also analyze the significance of what is being dropped. Alternatively, it may represent your carelessness. Perhaps you are expressing some dismay or regret in how you let something slip through fingers. in conclusion, all you have to do is do some soul searching and these dreams should go away. don't be afraid, and try not to bring your dreaming fears into reality or else things will become very difficult for you. Good Luck and blessings to you, your little boy and your family. |

Hello Dollface...I wish every mother would worry about her child as much as you seem to be doing. In my profession, I see many parents who either do not care or are too wraped up in their own needs to properly attend to their children's needs. I just wanted to comment on that and say thank you for being a concerned parent. As for your repeating dreams, I believe it may have to do with your fears that your child will be negatively influenced and effected by situations beyond your control (I have a strange feeling it has something to do with relatives and the generational dysfunction that you may have been exposed to and injured by). The spirits and ghosts indicate to me past experiences tripping you up. The seatbelt in the car seat is deception (because a car seat's function is to prevent injury). The tiger is a predator or someone you feel preys on weakness. I am not sure if I am way off on this interpretation or right on the mark. I often go by energy and "gut" feelings with my interpretations. If I am seeing this correctly, please know that you may not be able to change your past, your relatives, the way people behave, etc. but you can certainly do your best with what you have learned from the disappointments and injustices you have experienced, to give your son a better life. I believe you will. Peace to you, your fiance and your son.

Although it seems that your dreams are about your son, in reality the dreams are about what is happening to you in the sleep. Your subconscious uses your care and fear for your son to wake you for some reason. What is your sleeping arrangement? Your dreams indicate that something in your sleep is obstructing your movement and restricting your breathing. Quote:
A cold or indigestion could cause bad dreams as well. Quote:

You can be certain that the dreams do not concern your son. The dreams try to wake you from some pain or discomfort. Do you have a cold? Do you sleep close to someone? Cheers Wolfjk

Thank you so much for your help! It really makes a lot of sense. I'm only 22 years old and i was only 18 when i got pregnant with my son and my family was very upset and drilled into my head that it was going to be hard and that i wasnt going to be able to do it. i proved them all wrong untill about a year ago we started slipping and lost our apartment i was living with my mother for about a month and everyday she put me down about how horrible i was. i then left her house and went to my sisters for about 4 days and then got my own apartment. But in the meantime while all this was going on i was devestated that i didnt have a stable enviroment for my son. the nightmares started as soon as i moved into the new apartment. i have always had a fear that i wasnt going to be good enough for my son. i devote my all to being as good of a mother as i can. me and my son are very close and we adore eachother. i need to figure out a way to stop these nightmares from happening because i havent slept in months for anymore than 3 hours at a time. this fear has overcome me that much. i dont reflect any of these things on my son and i do my best to not show him my fear. But it amazes me that there are so many logical explanations to these nightmares that they all have a meaning. it really helps me to better understand and exept what is happening so now i can work on fixing it. Thank you for you time and your feedback it ment a lot to me. my fiance also thanks you as well because it has effected him too. |

Hi Dollface,
Quote:
The reason your son is involved in most of your dream is because he is the centre of the world for you at present. Your subconscious uses him as a device to wake you up with. I know it sounds a bit odd, but the subconscious mind uses the most effective way to control your sleep. When you wake up with a pain and a bad dream you can be absolutely certan that the dream woke you because of the pain. My guess is that something happens in your sleep that gives you the pain. It is up to you to find out what it is. My guess is that it is acid indigestion. Perhaps a medical check up would clear your mind. In cases of chronic pain, dreams behave different. They try to divert the sleeper from the pain by projecting it onto someone else or something else and try to entertain the sleeper with bizzare interesting dreams. Cheers Wolfjk
