Kidnapping dream

In my dream, I believe I was in college and there was a serial kidnapping/killer attacking people. It was believed that one person was kidnapped at a time and previous victims had not survived.
I was kidnapped... they (at least two kidnappers, both men) tried to force me into the trunk of a car but as I am very claustrophobic I begged to not have to go in the trunk, and they relented, allowing me to be bound up and sit in the back seat of a panel van en route to our destination.
At another point in the dream I am being forced to forge a check for a large sum of money. The check is drawn from an unfamiliar person's account, and they have a genuine check signed by the owner of the account and they ask me to match the genuine signature as best I can. One kidnapper has a gun on the desk beside him, and then points it at me before I begin the forgery. This makes me even more scared and I tell him that I cannot perform the forgery with the gun pointed at me because it will make me shake, and then the forgery won't match the real signature. I believe he puts the gun down but I don't remember completing the forgery. (I may or may not have)
I don't know why I was kidnapped, or what happened to the previous victims other than they did not survive. I do not know in what manner they were killed.
The kidnappers leave me a lone in the room. I am wondering what my family and friends must be thinking and I wish I could communicate with them. I keep thinking, "I know the others did not survive, but I know I will." And I am very scared. A girl around my age enters the room, and she tells me that she was also kidnapped. I ask her what we should do, maybe she can help me escape, and she asks if she should call 911 on her cell phone. I am shocked that she has a cell phone since the kidnappers have taken all of my possessions and have removed the phones from the room. I hear the kidnappers in the hallway as they are about to re-enter the room. I tell her quickly to hide under the bed, which she does, but as they enter the room she pokes her head out. I am extremely scared that they will see her and I do not know what they will do. I tell them that if they are going to kill me eventually, to just kill me now because I cannot take it anymore.
They don't kill me --- and they don't see the girl either. She then climbs out from under the bed and is moving around -- they don't see her! At that point I realize she must be a ghost or something that only I can see.
The rest of the details are vague but I do escape, somehow, with her help... but even now, the next day, I can still feel the very strong sense of dread and fear that I felt in the dream.
