i know exactly what you mean. I've been having episodes like these the past couple of years. Recently, though i've had a creepy twist in these episodes. I try to fight off whatever is paralyzing me or holding me down. I think its a demon.

This used to happen to me all the time. The important thing is that you can still speak in your mind and that spirit can hear you. You say you pray to god. You need to realize that god already gave you the authority over this thing. It takes some faith. But scream in your head as loud as you can ' I command you to release me in the name of Jesus!I rebuke you in the name of Jesus and command you to leave for I am a child of god!' It will leave. Make sure you pray before you sleep. God promises that when we lay down our sleep will be sweet. Pray and ask for his peace and protection. Its the only thing that stopped it for me.

you are waking up during stage 4 rem sleep. your body is not supposed to be able to wake up from this deepest form of sleep so if you do, it seems like you are living in a nightmare. your body can't move because your brain isn't supposed to function on that stage in a waking form.
you sleep in cycles and these cycles continuously go in and out of the 4 different stages throughout the night. you need the deepest stage of sleep to survive or your body will starve itself because your brain is confused and deprived of relaxation. to keep your body and mind healthy... it needs a period of COMPLETE rest and so it goes into a short period of 'shutdown'. but once you come back to the first stage... you are able to actually recall dreams and are able to wake up normally. its why light sleepers remember their dreams best. i am a very light sleeper i do not remember how to help your condition, but i learned about it in psychology. don't worry though... if i remember right it doesn't hurt anything... its just really unpleasant to experience if i remember right Last edited by endlessskies58 : 04-23-2009 at 01:19 AM. |

I've had this in different ways. How you described and other things like not being able to see or move. It is what Wolfjk says. I used to experience it more often when I was on 'phenargan' for allergies, which has a hugely sedative affect on some people such as myself. It's all to do with the position you're in and other trivial things.

this happened to me once b4... i was dreaming that i was in my room, lying flat on my back in my bed, with my light on... In my meaningless attempt to get up, i figured it was just another dream. until i made out the shape of a figure above me with a faint outline and the inner space was glowing with abstract colors (which reminded me of the northern lights) and i noticed it was pinning me down by my shoulders. this scared me deeply and i woke up screaming

What if we're all asleep? And when we sleep we see but a dream within a dream? If our life really does flash before our eyes on the brink of death... it's called life... If life is a but a lucid dream... If when we wake from this dream we see where we've been sleeping all this time... What if? |
