person by bed

I have this reoccuring dream every so often,its sort of a nightmare.When im drifting off to sleep i sometimes dream that there is a person standing next to my bed looking at me.
So then i wake up and for a second or 2 the person is still there standing by the bed.
A few times i just turn over and go to sleep.BUT i have also tried to punch and last night tried to kick the person,i am only just awake when i punch and kick.
WTF is all that about

Wow that sucks. I once woke up with my sons face noe 2 inches from mine. He almost found himself across that room. Sometimes i am afriad to open my eyes for fear that someone is standing there. So i feel for you.

A few times i just turn over and go to sleep.

Why don't you try going to sleep on your side in the first place?
The reason for the person standing over you is because you go to sleep on your back (you are looking up) The dream is frightening you awake because sleeping on your back causes heavy breathing, snorring and bad dreams.
If you don't believe me try to lie on your back while awake for an hour and see how it feels?

hello! I've had this happen to me except I felt someone climb on my bed. Thought it was the cat but it wasn't! You try to escape and you wake up to find yourself in the same position you fell asleep in! Frightening, isn't it?
Anyhow some people may thinks it's the incubus or the succubus (sp) others think it's like our soul is going to another dimension, kind of like visiting others on the 'other side'. I've heard someone even say it's kind of like our conscience telling us that we need to confess something to a love one or friend. Anyway hope I helped !
