Default Night terrors:

Alright, So I am very new to this whole dream interpretation subject, so please bear with me if I seem like I am not 100% sure what I am talking about.

I suppose I will start with describing the dream I have been having over the past few months and hopefully some one out there can help me work through it.

I have never liked Zombie movies (Like Dawn of the Dead or 28 Days Later) I would reluctantly watch them with friends and family up until about 2 years ago. I started to have HORRIBLE dreams about zombies trying to get to me, then my father passed away and dreams about his death and life replaced the nightmares. Then about 4 months ago I started to dream about the zombies again. Far worse than before.

The dreams all start out differently, in my home, at the church, deployed.... then it repeats. The zombies invade my home or which ever place I am at, they start chewing people up and turning others into zombies, I manage to escape, and get away, but they are following and gaining ground, so I run into a building where other people have started to group, and we collectively run up the stairs, towards the top of the building, where we are cornered into a meeting room, I know people there, but not many and I have two weapons with me (a rifle and a hand gun). We barricades the doors and huddle together waiting for an escape. In ever dream I walk to the huge windows that look out onto the street and watch people struggle to get away from the zombies, and fail miserably. After some time the zombies begin to break through, and people in the room start to change from being bit. I try to fend them off with my rifle and then my hand gun, but they are over whelming, and just as the zombies from the outside begin to break in and I am ready to jump out the window rather than being eaten, I wake up.

The only thing is, During my dream I think that I have already woken up and I am screaming and yelling and running away. Last night I woke up in my kitchen.... and this is the really scary part, with my .40 caliber Ruger in my hand. Lucky I keep the magazines in a separate place and unloaded, other wise I have no idea what could have happened. The dreams are becoming increasingly more frequent and violent..... how do I fix this problem and what could they possibly mean!?

Firstly, probebly not a good idea to watch zombie movies if they effect your mind during sleep. Since having lucid dreams and various sleep experience, I am completely effected by what I watched on the TV before sleeping. Be careful what you watch. NAyone who says that TV does not effect your mind is lying.

Secondly, I was attacked in my sleep for a few years. This was quite physical. There are a couple of things that you can try. The first is to realise that you are dreaming when you are being chased. If you can do that, and can pluck up the courage to turn around, you should find that whatever you were running from just dissappears and becomes something good. You have to tell yourself it is a dream and that there is nothing to fear.

These dreams are all about fear. If you can turn and face it, it should dissolve. If it doesn't, and remains evil, just breath and have no fear. Tell whatever it is to get out of your dream. You didn't invite it and you have no fear of it. It will leave.

Tell yourself before you sleep that you will know when you are dreaming. Keep saying to yourself that it is only a dream.

I hope your nightmares end soon.

Perhaps you need to see a councellor or dream therapist. I think your training and your profession is getting on top of you. A sleep clinic is the best way to go about it as you can be wired up and wathed on CCTV while you sleep. I am sure they can prescribe some medicines that will help you.
Cheers Wolfjk
