| Nightmares! Horrors in the night? Do you wake up screaming, or wish you hadn't fell asleep in the first place? Post it here, or if you are good at helping folks interpret these kind of dreams, then do so here. Maybe you will get a good night's sleep. ; |

Hello, I am new here and just learning a little about interpreting dreams. I hope to be able to help others as I understand a bit more.
I've had nightmares - the stuff that Stephen King would envy for his books and movies - for years, and often yell in the night etc, BUT this dream I had last night left such gruesome and vivid images in my head I can't shake them. It has bothered me all day and it is nearly time to try and sleep again. Briefly...in the nightmare there were a lot of random people I didn't recognize, one after another working with huge equipment, very large chains (about 3 feet in diameter links) suspended from above, etc. Each person died a very sick mutilated death and although they didn't scream out (happened too fast) I could imagine their excruciating pain as their bodies became similar to putting steak into a meat grinder. One person fell onto a chain and his body went through the links, coming apart in pieces instantly as his weight pulled him through them quick, one was crushed under something extremely heavy dropping on him. This dream was a continuation of one in which I was going to go to hell, there was a demon at work here in this one too...but in the first I had the choice of burning forever with my youngest child or freezing until dead. I chose freezing...but at an extra "cost" I woke up before discovering. Anyway, I *think* last nights dream is about me feeling hopeless about my future, continual painful struggling as a single Mom and never getting ahead. Is there any way to just make the dreams stop? I try so hard to control where my dreams are heading as I have them, but get stuck in "rewinding" the segment where I am trying to get some control. Please don't laugh, this is really disturbing and unpleasant. It makes me wonder what the heck goes on in my subconscious mind. Thanks for any input. Sorry post is so long... |

Hi I used to wake up from some horrible nightmares myself. I have even went to a head doctor aka (shrink). I seen stuff about Iraq, mass graves, torture, etc. Well the the doctor could not help me after spilling out my info about myself, my dreams, etc. For the truth of the matter I felt worst afterwards, well I gave it all over to Jesus. I prayed sought him in prayer with fasting, The bible has encouraged me to fight on, even in my dreams. I use the powerful name above all names in my dreams and it works over everything including the spooky things. I gone to bed after I woke up again to discover that what I see in my dreams was just reported on the morning news. Thats uncomfortable before I was born again. now I deal with it by the LORDS strength. I hope you do the same. Peace.

Hi Keyboardslave,
There is something in your screen name that suggests you are working too hard and probably long hours too. You need these violent dreams to wake you in the morning. If you are taking any medicines to help you sleep better they could make your dreams more violent and vivid. It is also possible that you suffer pain in your sleep, in that case your subconscious is trying to transpose your pain to the dream objects so you can sleep longer. I hope your situation improves soon, meanwhile try to look after yourself and your children/child. Grab the opportunities if they come your way. Cheers Wolfjk

Anyway, Im sorry to hear that you've had such nightmares and then especially that they have come true. My dreams leave me with the "feeling" that something is "coming" or going to dramatically change in my life but give me no clue what that thing is or if the painfulness in them means more pain and devastation to come or shedding old pain and moving on. I'm glad you've found serenity in your religion, however, I moved away from more "accepted" forms of belief many years ago after lots of study into it and confusion about its origins, and have much more spiritual peace now. |

Hi again, well I wanted to also mention since I have been born again, that when I have seen uncomfortable things in my dreams, wild animals, demons, and ghosts, I have said in the name of JESUS I take authority and command you to be still, leave, and this has never failed to aid me. When I see ghosts in my dream I ask them about Jesus Christ and is He your LORD? They stop and retreat every time. In dreams they (demons, ghosts) some times show up in mirrors. I respect your opinion on religion, and thank you for respecting mine. I want you to know my faith is not tied to any denomination or the like, its a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, through prayer and love for God and people. God bless you, peace.

You are probably very unsettled at present and have not yet got over parting from your husband. Good talking over with a friendly councellor would be good for you. Cheers Wolfjk
