Hi Everybody! I'm new on this site, and I just started doing some research to figure out whats going on in my sleeping life...I dream often and I never thought of it as unusual until I started comparing notes with my friends and realized that most people don't seem to remember their dreams vividly...
Anyway, I have a lot of dreams that start with me in bed, thinking I'm waking up (not realizing its a dream) and I start going about my business as I always do in the morning, but with a few key differences. In these dreams I feel drowsy, disoriented, and weightless. Rules that apply in real life don't in the dreams...like time is all wacky and I seem to be able to repeat actions if I choose too. Plus, I seem to be able to travel long distances on foot and, again, it feels like it all hapens in seconds. Don't know if I'm describing it well enough, it's kind of hard to explain. Anyway, my friend keeps talking about astral projection and prophetic dreams and stuff, since often it's things that does occur later in real life (and in regular time). Is this what you would call lucid dreams? Kind of vivid and disorienting in the fact that I really am not aware that I'm dreaming until I wake up... Again, I don't know much about this stuff yet.

Welcome, sleepypenguin. Love the Username and that picture, BTW... .
Anyway, my friend keeps talking about astral projection and prophetic dreams and stuff, since often it's things that does occur later in real life (and in regular time). My sister-in-law can do something like 'astral projection'. Somehow she manages to 'leave' her own body at will, fully conscious and awake. I've not seen it, but have heard from others who did. And it really spooked them... I've read stories of people who can do this over long distances. Even thousands of miles. There seem to be two kinds:- * 'Crisis ghosts'. When someone is in danger, or close to death, they may may think of a loved one. Who sees them as a very 'real' and 'solid' person. But whether it's 'picked up vibes'. Or the person in peril 'projecting'. Or both, I'm not sure. * The other is a 'doppleganger'. Where a 'solid likeness' appears of a living person, independant of their actual location. I think usually 'projected' by the person the 'twin' is of. But I don't think my sister-in-law falls into this category. Or does she?

Hi there,
I just jumped on google to find your thread on something that just happened to me. I'm an administrator i'm generally skeptical and level headed but the is about the 4th time this has happened to me and it leaves me in sweats and disorientated. I was going through my new staff pay rise information when i realised i had done this before .. but not in the deja vous type of feeling this left me with my head on th desk drifting back into a dream i had (what i believe was about 2 yrs ago).. the missing factor was this putrid smell.. i remember in the dream there was a smell that i could not get rid of.. when i woke up i was hanging over my rubbish bin at my desk.. I think i would handle this better if i knew what it was. I have spoken to different people and they say its a form of Astral travelling but its not an outer body experience its more like i have been here done this before.. When i was in high school (13yrs ago) i would have a similar reaction.. cold sweats and dream state but there was always somebody missing from the scene... i knew there was a figure missing but never knew who this person was.. i felt the smell i missed in my last episode was something to do wtih this person.. .. I'm going crazy aren't I??? Please help if you can |

I have very vivid dreams. Love 'em, too! I think of my dream life as my other life. But it's just dreams. I don't actually go anywhere (astral projection). I don't time travel.
Dreams are your brain's way of sorting through and categorizing information. Enjoy your dreams. I do! |

Hi there,
Many of the dreams are just what it seem to be and that is dreams. When you are starting to talk about astral projection you are moving into a danger zone which you do not have much control over and is not protected against other beings that move in the same zone. In the Bible we are warned not to experiment with these things for a reason. I remember that a guy told me about dreams and this about astral traveling, he said that if you can lift up both your hands, open and close at your will, you are in control and is probably astral traveling. I have never managed to do that, but I also have never tried astral projection, because it is well known that it can affect your life and you are rejecting the warnings made by Jesus! All the best! |

Whats the difference between astral dreaming and an out of body, or are they the same? I only had one dream where I found myself floating above my bed when I was asleep (of course!) I looked down upon this body and I was thinking, who is that!? Then I realized it was me!! I guess I freaked out and I went back into my body. The next day I went to work and was telling this woman about it and she quite calmly said, "Oh, you had an out of body experience" I was shocked to say the least. But it was a pretty neat adventure!

Vivid dreams are not lucid dreams unless your consciousness wakes up, and you know it is a dream. However, if you have really vivid dreams, you are more likely to have a lucid dream.
I think maybe astral projection and ‘out of body’ are the same. Astral projection is not evil, although you do need to be careful. I wouldn’t advise you to go zipping around the universe outside your body, unless you can deal with negative energies. If anyone finds themselves at the point of being able to leave their body, I would suggest staying with the body and feeling where you are. I think this can be more beneficial to your physical body than leaving it - which is draining. Saying that, it is quite difficult to resist the temptation to fly. Good luck idgy
