This is a great forum! I have been reading here all morning, although I should be getting some work done!
I have always had "visitors" in the night, although a lot less in the last 10 or so years, I used to have them about once a week, now it is only a couple of times a year. I think this is lucid dreaming. I wake up, I know that I am in bed, and who and where I am. I wake up talking with people, usually family and friends, but not always. I see them standing there, and I sit up in bed and talk to them. We have little conversations, always pleasant, I never feel threatened or anything. Then they say goodbye and leave, and I lay down and go to back to sleep. Sometimes I wake my husband up because I am laughing and chatting, and his grumbling usually makes my "visitor" go away and I go back to sleep. But I am aware of him beside me the whole time and feel guilty for waking him up. I have lived in Germany now for just over 10 years (originally from Canada) and I find the visits have gotten very rare. Maybe the distance is too far? Bye for now, Nackie |

A Visitor, in United Kingdom law and history, is an overseer of an autonomous ecclesiastical or eleemosynary institution (i.e., a charitable institution set up for the perpetual distribution of the founder's alms and bounty), who can intervene in the internal affairs of that institution. These institutions usually comprise cathedrals, chapels, colleges, universities and hospitals.
