I'm new to the site and thought I could get some perspective on the realistic dream I had today.
I was napping early afternoon on my couch in my living room and suddenly I felt this pressure on me. I tried to move but I was paralized. All of a sudden I see a silouette in the television in front of me coming closer to the couch. Somehow, I am able to look up at the spot the image is coming from and find nothing there. Not thinking anything of it, I close my eyes again and go back to sleep. This time there was a person standing behind my couch hovered over me where I was laying. Again, I felt paralized and couldn't fully open my eyes. I remember even telling myself "try to open your eyes, you have to open your eyes." This scared me because I really felt like someone was really there and I begin to panic. Then all of a sudden I felt two hands grab my wrist and I begin to breath heavy and try to move but I can't because I am paralized. Since I can't see the image I somehow am able to only free my arms and I remember physically grabbing this person's wrist so hard because I didn't want them to get away. So I begin the walk both my hands up their arm so that I can feel their face and maybe be able to identify who is there. I get to the face, framing it in my hands and it's very narrow and distorted. I don't remember seeing hair or touching hair but I felt that it was a man even though I couldn't see the face. Instantly, I felt threatened like I was going to be hurt because I am realizing that I am touching "something" and it's so vivid that I wake up and I remember breathing heavy, my heart was racing, and I think I even let out a scared sound or something. Sorry that this is so long but I would really like someone to help me interepret or let me know if you felt something similar. Also, if someone can tell me what hands might mean in a dream? Thanks in advance. |

When I have a dream that's that scary, I try and conjour up the feelings I had in the dream, and then try and remember If i have had any similar feelings lately in my waking life. What feelings did you have in the dream, besides fear?

I quit my job over a year ago and have become a stay-at-home-wife with no children. I am trying to figure out what I want to do as far as a career. I want my next career to be something I'm passionate about and love to do. I also feel guilty and sometimes judged by family, friends, and even perfect strangers because I choose not to work. By the way my husband makes enough to help financially and he is also very supportive of my decision too. That's always a plus. I guess maybe I'm judging myself too much and letting anxiety and confusion rule over me. The only thing I still don't get is the fact I felt hands on me in my dream and that I grabbed back as well. It's just so weird. What do you think? |

... A prayer by Guru Amar Das Ji-
Word, Third House: O man, you have been tormented by a nightmare, and you have passed your life in sleep. You did not wake to hear the Word of the True Guru's Shabad; you have no inspiration within yourself. That body burns, which has no virtue, and which does not serve the Guru. I have seen that the world is burning, in egotism and the love of duality. O Nanak, those who seek the Guru's Sanctuary are saved; within their minds, they meditate on the True Word of the Shabad. ||1|| Sri Granth: Amrit Keertan SGGS Page 651 |

I think it must be a very significant dream. My favorite way of analyzing dreams is from a book called breakthrough dreaming, where some psycholgists ask the person to describe their dreams like they are complete aliens...they ask the person to decribe everything in as much detail as possible and how they felt in the dream at each piece of action. They do it that way because symbols are different with everyone, like if someone has a dream about a dog- well i may love dogs and you may be scared of them, so the dream would have different meanings for us depending on our lifes experiences. but i think from my own past having dreams where you can't see or can't open your eyes are important. I dated a horrible man before i got married and a nightmare i had at the beginning, i was drugged and couldn't keep my eyes open or see. The things that stood out to me in your dream were that you saw something coming and ignored it ( was that in your dream?) that you grabbed out, and that you felt something disfigured. I don't know what it means in your life. I'd write it down in as much detail and then reread it. It it is still scary maybe wait a day or two and reread it, and maybe it will become clear. But obviously it has something important to tell you! What does your gut tell you it is about? |

A Dream Like That can prove to be of some danger, you might be witnessing what is called a prophetic dream which means some key points in the future.
In Your Dream You Said You Felt Paralysis - that can point out that you may experience sickness, anxiety and stress. Maybe go see your doctor for a checkup. I'm Not Too Sure what the silhouette meant as i've never heard anything like that before, I Suggest that if you ever have that same dream or a similar dream like that try to talk to the person and ask the man who he is and what he is doing. Just Tell Yourself That It Is Just A Dream And Nothing Will Hurt You. p.s Train yourself dreams are not just films, clips dreams are not just dreams. there a new dimension inside your head (the same as hallucination) which you can control, create, modify, and choose the outcome just like in real life. If You train yourself you can be more powerful in your dreams and nothing can pose a threat to you, take in consideration that dreams are extremely powerful stuff, not just inside your head but it can help with health, knowledge, and even wealth. Turn every dream into a lucid one and unlock secrets about the past present and future. (this isnt just some made up mojo) Never ever underestimate the power of the human brain Last edited by Mattco92 : 06-16-2008 at 01:14 AM. |

fashiongirl26,
Hi. There are Many, Many posts on here about Paralysis dreams & some "intenty" trying to attack or touch you while your in & out of dreams. I've felt this a few years back also. First it was like a gray shadowy substance & then a Figure of a man that was sitting behind me stairing at me. I tried to scream, move my fingers or something...but couldnt. Then I tried stairing at this Blurred-faced figure & finally I woke up. The scientific explanation is that when your in REM stages your neck is paralyzed so you dont start moving or throwing yourself while asleep which could really hurt yourself. But then your mind wakes up during this time & your body is still asleep. When I first dreamth this I thought I was crazy....but there are dozens of reported cases on this site stating the same experiences. |

I dont know what the significance of your dream is to you but i can tell you why you had such a realistic dream. I have had many many of these dreams and they are called 'stress dreams'. I got to the point where i had tests and even went to my doctors because i got so frightened. I had dreams where a man would be by my bed and i wanted to scream but i couldnt open my eyes nor look at him but i knew that i should be afraid. and he would shake me so violently till i woke up. I even got to the point where in my dream i had run downstairs and when i woke up i was genuinly suprised i wasnt down stairs. Once i got out of bed nd ran in my dream and i hti my leg on the side of my bed when iw oke up i actually had a bruise where i had hit my leg but i never once had gotten out of bed for a fact coz my frend was with me that night. She said my body phsyically shook like i was having an attack when i thought i was being shaken in my dream. it was jus a bodily response to my mind. Basically a stress dream is when there is so mcuh on your mind that your brain is inable to turn off but your body is so exhuasted. When your brainwaves are on the Beta level (awakened state) then clearly you are awake. Just before you go into Delta state (deep sleep) your brain rapidly moves through two others states called Theta and Alpha. Theta and Alpha is when you totally lose consciencious of self and dreams cannot occur...but if your brain has not completely stopped it jumps between these brainwaves (delta, alpha and theta) giving you more realistic dreams. However your body is seperated as you have no sense of self in this level of brain activity. That is why you can have dreams where you think you are being touched because your brain can still use these senses without permission. That is also why in these dreams you are usually feeling paralysed or if you scream no sound comes out because your body is not really functioning on this level. Sorry so scientific (i was explained this all many times and started studying it as a result) but i thought it might put you at ease a little! these dreams are quite frightening if you don't understand them. |
