hi! thought i'd share some of my really realistic dreams ive been having- where ive woken up and am lying in bed- then a split second later realise i havent. some are just repetitive and harmless but some really freak me out! sorry its gonna be a long one i think! comments and explanations welcome please!
my most recent was a few nights ago, i was having a hot, hayfevery, restless night, waking up and falling back asleep. im facing my wall on my side with my back to my room and i open my eyes awake, looking at my pillow up against my wall. i hear someone come into my room- i think its my 10 year old sister as i think i heard her get out out of her bed nextdoor, but i havent turned around. i feel odd, scared, which i shouldn't be of my sister then i realise its obviously not her but something of the same height and build- a dark form. all this i sense, not see. it then stops behind me and taps me on the back and makes this wierd throat sound (like in the grudge!) and im like chesus i gotta wake up and get away!! although im staring at my wall i keep telling myself to wake up and open my eyes and suddenly my wall focuses and i know im awake. it takes me a while to turn around but i do eventually and oviously theres nothing there. i didnt want to go back to sleep, and wasnt particularly tired even thought i'd only had 2hours of solid sleep and so went downstairs to read at 4am in the morn! another one i had was- im on my back asleep in my room and wake up to see my ceiling. i feel a pressure on me, like someone is lying face down on top of me and i'm thinking ok i'm sleeping. this always seems to freak me out more though- i guess i imagine anything horrific can happen in a dream! anyway i said to myself right- look at the 'person' and it gets off me and my mind creates the dark form into a woman i know, with the hairstyle of what the dark forms 'head' seemed to look like- pretty random, but think it was just my mind turning it into something. but it was ok then, we greeted eachother then she left, and i woke up. another that really freaked me out was again i awake on my back and i can feel my duvet being dragged away from me to the foot of my bed, only the duvet isnt moving. ive figured by now im asleep and get freaked again. a feeling of being dragged though the wall behind me happens, although i havent moved and am still in the same position. i wake up after forcing myself to open my eyes. theres another where again i wake on my back but feel as if there is someone beside me, lying on their front with their arm across my chest. i figure its my little sister again, it coulnt logically be anyone else, plus the arm has her pyjamas. ive already figured im still dreaming, and i dont want this form to awake or move so again i force myself to wake. sometimes its easier than other times, and sometimes it feels like forever before i wake- like i cant phisically open my eyes. other times it just happens again- ive woken- no i havent! and wierd things occur. i know ive mentioned my sister twice, but these are just a selection that 1st came to mind. plus she sleeps nextdoor to me so i guess my very logical mind assumes it'd be the only explanation until i realise im dreaming! these dreams have happened where they werent unpleasant too- i slept round a friends and woke up when he went to work, i fell back asleep and kept dreaming id woken up. this must have happened 4/5 times. he came back to get something.. his housemate walked in to say hi.. someone came to tidy...he came back again.. just harmless happenings, til i finally woke up and thought hmmm wierd, maybe i should get up. ive read up on things like sleep paralysis- im not sure its that as when i feel a presense ive never really wanted to move, i dont usually try- somehow i think im safer if i dont. that time i looked at the form, i could move. i dont tend to though, i just dont want to know! ive a hugely overreactive imagination and a very good photographic memory so i always just put it to my mind being in a deep sleep and creating these feelings and things. i lucid dream all the time and have several a night usually. and i always remember them. wow that is a long one! thank you so much for reading and being so patient! any comments are welcome! |

Hello Jelica...
Wow! That was a lot of writing on your part...shows your dedication for an answer. I hope that some of my comments may help a bit. I am glad you looked up information on sleep paralysis. Everyone has it...it is the body's way of protecting the dreamer from acting out motions in a dream. Problem is...some people do not go through their sleep/dream cycle correctly. This can happen when a person is highly stressed out, anxious or unable to get appropriate sleep on a regular basis. When this occurs, the person may actually open their eyes at points of the sleep/dream cycle..incorporating visuals from reality while their mind is partially dreaming. If this is the case with you...you need to train yourself not to be afraid of these random states of consciousness. Instead....remember that you...as the dreamer...are in control of your dreams. You already are self talking in these states...saying that you are dreaming...so all you need to do is tell yourself that you are in control. Change your dream state and details in your dream. Another possible explaination..that many here may not agree with or may not believe in....is the possibility that you are seeing into what is called the astral world. Many who believe in this world...believe that entities...spirits...etc come to and from the realms. On such entity is reported to sit on people's chests...sucking breath/energy from people. This is called Incubus/Succubus. Since this is a dream interpretation forum...I will not go into detail about such beliefs...because it would not be appropriate. I am sure you can research such beliefs on a more suitable site. I have had such dream/wake states as you report. I am still not sure if they are truly dream states or something more. Since I have experienced it so much throughout my life...the only way I was able to overcome the fear or weirdness of it all was to create my own dream. I am now able to turn almost any dream into whatever I want. I hope this helps a bit. Be well. |

Aloha,
I have heard many things happen to people, but I have held this in for 45 years. I did not want people to think I am crazy. I do not know what is happening, but I want to understand without opening a door that needs to stay closed. I thought I'd cry when I read your post, It is not just me. I'm really Ok. but something is going on that I do not understand. I am a devout Christian and the stronger my faith is the more this seems to happen, Please do not get me wrong I am not a bible beating fanatic, I just have a humble yet strong faith in God. When I was very young this started happening; I would be asleep and then my entire room would come into focus, yet I knew I was asleep. Curious I would look around, but soon after that every time this happens I get a sharp poking in my ribs that can tickle at first and be painful from the poking. I fight to wake up, I do not know if this is a gift ffrom god that needs to be developed, or if something sinister is trying to attack my faith. Last night it happened again and I finally broke down and need to find answers, is there anyone that can help me to understand what this is and why this is happening to me? I am a sane business woman, I do not have a tumor or any illnesses, at one time I was asleep and knew it, something showed me the window of my condo and as I was 14 stories up I could see buildings falling over the freeway. two days later the earthquake in Armenia happened, the morning of 9/11 I woke up in s shot, sat up in my bed and for some reason I had to turn on the news, and that's when I saw it. Please do not think I am crazy, I do not think I could take that. I am not a vulnerable person, I have stress just like everyone else, but for the most part I am a very happy person, my family and friends are wonderful. I just really want to know what I am up against, will this get worse, am I imagining these things...well the answer to the last one is no. This is real. Do I try to confront in my sleep or do I continue to pray in my sleep in order to force myself awake. What do I do? Thank you for listening Lorraine |

I just noticed this stared happening to me lately as well. The other night I felt sharp pokes in my side like where my ribs are at. I too am Spiritual and a sane person but this just really disturbed me. More importantly I have done research into the sleep paralysis and am thinking it is just muscle spasms. Possible yes but these pokes seemed so strong. Trying to look for information on it. But also wanted to see if others have simialr experiences.

you have repeatedly mentioned that you dont want people to think you are crazy and from reading what you have written i dont think you are. ive never thought i was thats for sure! its definitely something that others have experienced too, though maybe with slight variations. i myself am a catholic but not too fussed to be honest, i'm a little selective- i have my beliefs and though not all may be of a religious nature theyre my thoughts non the less. ive never really linked my 'dreams' to god, but then again i dont know for sure what they are. i have a hugely overactive imagination and a brain thats constantly working so it all may just have a scientific explanation. then again iv been told im open to such 'different' things- so then again it could be something else. whatever it is i have always told myself that i should try to be in control of things and not to fear whatever it is. i dont know if you are up against anything or whether it'll get worse- though usually when my sleeping pattern is off i have more. i assume that they will never go away, ive only started my life as i am 21 so i dont know but i think that once it happens it'll probably always happen- that is my assumption though. about the 9/11 dreams etc, you may just be prone to those 'feelings' too. i 'know' when something is wrong, or sometimes when the phone is going to ring, or when something bad is coming, but its just something ive always had, like my mother. i wouldnt say you are imagining things as i have felt the realness of it too, but again i dont underestimate the power of the imagination and what the body and brain can create together. my reaction in those dreams has always been to escape and wake up as quick as possible. maybe a confrontation is needed, maybe its what you need to realise that its nothing at all- or not. we dont know. all i do know is whatever you do goodluck and dont fear it, most of all dont think you are crazy. remember whatever thoughts you have you attract to you. positive all the way! i probably havent helped at all but these are my thoughts and i hope all goes well. jelica |
