We always dream once we hit a certain level in sleep, it's just that we don't always remember them. To remember your dreams more often, you need to break yourself into wanting to remember. Small things like writing them down as soon as you wake up and telling yourself before you go to sleep that you want to remember them will help you get into the habit of remembering them more often. I use to only ever remember bad dreams when I was little. But the more I made an effort to remember, the more I started to remember them.
As for making dreams more vivid? Melatonin can help, but I've also heard that higher doses give people seemingly real nightmares. Then again, everyone's different. I take it sometimes to help me sleep, and it has given me some vivid dreams.
I hope this was at least a little helpful. Take it easy.
