Default Not sure if this is lucid or not....

I think I have had a few lucid dreams over the years but at times it is still confusing to me as to if they were really lucid since I frequently have "dreams within dreams" as well as sleep in my dreams and even tell others what my dream was! The other nite I was having a strange dream, not even going to say the details for it was THAT strange and a bit embarressing! But what Im curious to is if it was truly lucid or not. I was in a room with a group of people (I know I knew who some were but not all) and I think my sisinlaw and the people were confronting me with some bizarre stuff that couldn't possibly be true! So after hearing what they said to me and thinking they were totally crazy I then said to my sisinlaw "It doesn't matter what they say, I know its not true because I know Im dreaming"! I didn't really do anything else to control the dream and I think it ended shortly thereafter. So what I would like to know is how do you know if its lucid dream or a dream within a dream?

Cool I dont think so

From what alot of the people on here say dreams such as that are not lucid. A lucid dream is where you know your dreaming and you have a little control. Some of the people would probably just describe that as a "vivid" dream. I think.

Default first step to lucid dreaming

Hello Sultry brown eyes,
Sounds like you were halfway there to having a lucid dream. The first step with lucid dreams is to actually realise you are dreaming. Sounds like you did this in your dream already. That is actually the hardest part. Next time you realise you are dreaming, look at your hand and see what happens. Just knowing this in your waking hours can be enough for it to trigger in your mind whilst dreaming. Try it and let us know what happens. Good luck.

Talking

I sorta thought it was something to do with lucid dreaming but since I often have dreams that Im sleeping and dreaming and actually talking about dreams while Im asleep....I can't always figure out if they are lucid dreams or dreams within dreams... Im curious as to what looking at your hand while dreaming means. Last nite I had another sort of lucid dream and again was questioning whether or not I was dreaming....I remember looking at my hand (only saw the back of it, no fingers) and then I even looked in a mirror to test! My face was distorted when I did that so I wonder what that means! But later on in the dream I did see myself and I looked fine! I do think I wanted to go on an control dream by doing whatever I wanted but yet....couldn't really think of what to do! lol

Default Same Here

I just had a dream last night where I was telling someone else about my dream (which was a dream I had earlier in the night).

I dreamt the night before last that I woke to take some notes down about the dream I was having but my notepad was missing.

I just started journaling my dreams a couple days ago so I think I've been so preoccupied about it that I am dreaming about it.
