Default Lucid dreaming

I think people who are able to have Lucid dreams, are extremly lucky.

Anyways, I've been either having nightmares(my mom dying, being chased by spiders/snakes/dead people), random dreams(celebrity dreams, laughing at nothing, being at school plays), or extrermly disgusting sex dreams(I know its part of puberty, but its like, necrophillia[sp?])

I really would like to figure out ways to prevent these kind of dreams by lucid dreaming(if its possible). What are some of the steps that I should take in being able to prevent some of these dreams?

If there's no way to prevent these dreams, then is there a way I could get help?

Arieskye..
I have never had to develop the skill to have lucid dreams...I just have them...and I don't know why. I know others who have actually developed the skill. I am sure others would give you better advice then myself...since I do not know all the techniques....but I have heard that repeating to yourself that you will have lucid dreams and know when you are dreaming right before going to bed is one of them. To help alleviate nightmares....try not to watch TV right before going to bed...it will certainly effect your dreaming. Also try to center yourself before you go to sleep. Try not to stress about what will happen the next day or what even happened that day. Be okay with yourself and know whatever problems you may be experiencing is only temporary. The best remedy for nightmares is going to bed without worry or stress. Hope this helps a little.

Default don’t worry about your dreams.

Dear Aieskye,
Good advice from Shirah. I would certainly echo the advice about TV or computer games. My dreaming is affected really badly by violence or action on the TV.

Firstly, try not to worry about your dreams, especially the sexual dreams, even if they are a bit bizarre. I imagine that everyone has sexual dreams, but just don’t admit it. Also, you may find you do stuff that you do in dreams you would never dream of doing in waking life. I’ve had some weird sexual ones myself - let them go and don’t let them worry you.

If your dreams are vivid and you can remember them clearly, then possibly you would be able to have lucid dreams. You are more likely to have them in the morning hours before you wake up when you are sleeping lightly. Unfortunately I don’t get much of a lie in these days, but when I do lay in till quite late and keep dozing off to sleep, this seems to be the time when I am most like to lucid dream or experience astral travel. Deep sleep is no good for lucid dreaming. So maybe try sleeping in for longer if you can. The only thing you can really do is to intend to know you are dreaming. It’s a bit hit and miss, but your intention is quite important. Whilst awake repeat the phrase ‘it’s a dream’, it may filter through whilst you are dreaming. Good luck and let us know how you get on. But above all, don’t worry about your dreams.

Thanks, idgy and Shirah.

I tried to lucid dream last night but I woke up with a nightmare, and found myself up for a while last night. (Luckily I was able to sleep in today, due to the sophmores testing.)

But, defiently, I will stop watching t.v. before heading off to bed. That definetly makes since as to why I may be dreaming about people dying and snakes.(I watch a lot of gorey movies and discovery channel/animal planet before heading off to bed)

And the sex dreams, I know I should ignore, but it just becomes a burden sometimes. Like, when I'm sitting in class, the whole dream just repeats itself, over and over again. It doesn't go away until after 1-2 days.

Default good luck

Hello Arieskye,
Good to hear that you have taken the TV thing on board. When I have mentioned that before on this website, I just got replies saying how much they loved watching their horror programs. You may find that the necrophilia thing will disappear if you are not watching TV where there are lots of dead people.

I think having orgasms in sleep is quite a natural thing, although your mind just throws a jumbled image together to go with it. If you mediate and watch your mind, you will see all thoughts just rising and following onto the next thought. Your mind does this in sleep as well, so what you have thought and seen during the day will pop into your head whilst dreaming,- except they don’t make much sense. That’s why you shouldn’t worry about those dreams, you have a physical feeling in your body, but your mind is just throwing thoughts together from during the day. Maybe you should look into meditation to still your mind. You can just start by watching the thoughts rise in your mind. Don’t judge yourself on what thoughts arise, let them go. You are the observer and not the thought. Good luck.
