In all honesty, there are scarier things to run from in a lucid dream than a dog. Unless
1.) Your dream will allow you to make it lucid, but will not allow you any control or 2.) It is a memory then you have nothing to fear. Do what you will, explode it, turn the dream into a manga, take cute photos withi the dog, kick it, hug it, do whatever floats your boat. Whatever you do, however, do NOT go to sleep while you are lucid dreaming, e.g., do not EVER dream of performing the act of going to sleep while in the lucid dreaming state. You will fall asleep for an extended period (as in days, I once was asleep in excess of 36 hours this way), and a nasty consequence is that when you wake up, you will be unable to distinguish, in my maximum for a period of five (dream) days whether or not the life you are living coincides with reality. Indeed, this information is very useful to those that would apply the anthropic principle. If you think you will have a problem, or this is a problem in your life that you are facing as the manifestation of a dream, then sit in your bed (or wherever you typically sleep) and lay perfectly still, head staring ahead at the ceiling. This is best done at night, with the lights off, and when you are alone. Eventually, you will be able to physically see what you are thinking, that is to say, your thoughts will visibly distort and cloud what you are actually seeing, even without your eyes closing. Continue to do this, and think on anything you would allow your mind to wander over to. This includes, but is not limited to, anything. Not only will you gain a great deal of insight in whatever topic you are thinking of, you will fall to sleep the precise moment that you stop thinking about the fact that sleeping is the purpose for this activity. In this way you can reach one of three paths. 1.) When you wake up, you will know you have forgotten an important dream. For me, it was the Elephant J dream. 2.) You will have a peaceful dream that resolves your current woes within the dream, and provides a solution for you in waking life. Often an epiphany dream. 3.) You will dream of nothing whatsoever. Not even of Genie. Quite astounding, really. I have found the method, when performed correctly and within those parameters, to be successful every time I have attempted it over a period of the past two months, which is around twenty attempts and successes. |

If someone is truly having an out of body experience, and is frightened by anything, I have proven the following way of waking to be very useful for myself. Just think and focus on your physical body.

WOW ive read some really good ideas and suggestions
on how to beat some of theses crazy lucid dreams, out of body expirieces, sleep paralysis stages whatever they may be and i just wanted to clarify some of them even more so through specific expirience. the first one being the idea of being about to know that it is a lucid a dream and know that u can be in complete control of anything that happens. but this comes in stages and it takes tons and tons of practice. i suffer from lucid dreams / sleep paralysis in ways i couldnt even begin to imagine and it has taken me years to be able to control and focus and know that i completely capable of making anything happen in this state of mind so just take it step by step and u have to learn to relax in the state of dreamly panic and focus on what needs to be done. the second being meditating this is one of the first steps i learned. this is the begining phase of learning to have complete control. its all focus. and these other ways all a graduative states after the first few steps. so keep up the pracitce and stuff and ull be fine i havnt figured it all out but im getting there. |

I remember, scariest dream I ever had was about a big monster of a guy completly covered in ring piercings and chasing me around in a library. It was fairly obvious he wanted to kill me (I believe he may have even said so at one point), but what really made it scary was that it was a lucid dream and he was the only part of it I couldn't control at all.
That's the only time I've had one of those turn against me. That time, I got out of it by being creative; I couldn't affect the pierced guy directly, so I just stuck a big electromagnet over his head, which didn't work out so well for him what with all those rings covering his skin. |
