For a few years now, I have had a weird occurrence during sleep. It is as if my mind is awake, but my body is still asleep. I am conscious, but I cannot open my eyes or move. I feel very scared, and try to move my body. Then after a short period of time I "snap" out of it and I am awake and able to move. I used to experience this at least once a week, but after I started taking zoloft, and then switched to Paxil they rarely happen. All of the sudden I had one after almost a year of not having them, and am afraid that they are going to occur on a regular basis. Does anyone know about this kind of thing or have any ideas of what it could be? Thank you for your time.

Hi,
This condition is quite common in sleep. It is called "sleep paralysis" It is not dangerous. The dream is frightening you awake with the idea that you can't move, so you try moving consciously and gradually wake up.
It happens most often when you lie on your back or having a nap in a bad sleeping position.
Cheers Wolfjk

Hey,
Definitely you are suffering from sleep disorder. I would highly recommend you DermaSleep as safe prescription. I got it a few years back when I was suffering from the same problem. I used DermaSleep and slept profusely. My disease god cured away in a fortnight too. DermaSleep is the most effective natural remedy for treating insomnia and promoting healthy sleep and it does work without any side effects. Hope this will help you.
All the best!!!

Hi,

This is not a big problem.... don't worry try this.........you will feel better..

1.Regular day exercise can help sleep
2.Get some light to set your body clock
3.Create a better sleep environment.
4.Keep a regular bedtime schedule, including weekends
5.Stay relaxed
6.Do a quiet, non-stimulating activity if you can’t sleep:
7.Sleepingpills can cause side effects and even rebound insomnia, where your sleep ends up worse than before. Prescription medications are no magic pill, either. If you must take sleep prescription medications, work carefully with your healthcare professional.

Quality sleep is important to your health. Make a commitment to yourself – don’t “rest” until you find the solution to your sleep problems!

Good Luck !!!

Tx,

Yeast Infection

If you feel like your awake but paralysed or even if things are ahppening around you like your in a dream but you think your awake for example. its generally due to stress. I had them on and off for a while where i was awake like my mind was wide awake but i cudnt open my eyes or say anything or move i felt totally paralysed. And i thought there was a man standing in my room. Actuli eventually i managed to get up n run down stairs n i hit my leg on the side of the bed tho in reality i hadnt actually moved i wa sjus awake but my body was asleep so i was sort of driftin between brain waves. the oddest thing i actually had a bruise on my leg where id hit it on the bed. my doctor explained it as a stress dream where your mind is so busy thinking about things and stressing that it cannot switch off but your body is so exhuasted it cannot stay awake. so you drift between brain waves where u feel u are awake but you cannot phsyically move. you arent reaally awake though your in almost a coma like state so i have been told. Its actually what a lot of doctors think comas are like. to be honest if u can relate to what im saying i had these dreams on n off for months and i get them every so often but you shouldnt take meds for it. Try getting one of those meditation cds to relax ur mind n listen to it while ur lying in bed. I did it n it helped me alot. i dont believe in meditation or things like that either but it did work. If you have another dream then try and realise what is happened bcoz ur not completely asleep ur almost in a daze if u like so you are in control still you just have to try and make yourself realise it and remember what is happening while it is happening.

I hope that helped x

Default i have this

i have this its really annoying if it gets bad and it can be worsened bye taking things like xanax .
sleeping medication of any kind will help

i got useto it and i no longer fear it .. its just rather annoying .. a loud noise or some one touching you will instantly wake you .
so usually i try to breath heavy to rock my chest and blink hard as its the only things i can control . or concentrate on moving my finger tips .
you could also try to relax and fall back in to a dream .

i know its terrifying and i would alway feel like their was some one watching me or something so maybe your afraid to sleep and get it again at all .

so here are things that prevent it .

stretch before bead a little bit and that should almost completely eliminate it .

and if you get it in the night when you wake up just stretch your arms and legs a bit so when you sleep again it wont reoccur .

it usually happens when your laying on your back .. so sleep on your side .

if your sleep deprived its much more likely to happen .

so really just lightly stretch . if you've only had it once their no need for meds for it .

you should go to medication if its persistent .

but usually it goes away , idk how old you are . but you usually get it as a young adult or adolescent and its something you usually grow out of or something that occurs for maybe 2 years then stops .

also drugs make it much worse . especially ones bad for your back like ecstasy .

its a problem with your cerebellum and can happen when your going to sleep or waking up i guess the way i think of it is .. that some people sleep walk because their brains don't shut down that part enough .. and i cant move when im awake because my brain wont wake back up .

if this is something you can learn to cope with and control better a lot of people like to use it to educe an obe or lucid dreams.
