Default Re: Food and dreams

When I worked in my mother in laws resturant I dreamed about cooking all the time. And now that I don't cook for a living I dream about cooking right before a local soup cook off we have every year. But even still I do sometimes dream about cooking. I love food and would be happy if I could just spend day after day in the kitchen cooking.

Default PIZZA dreams

we laughing refer to pizza dreams. Invariably when i have pizza from a certain shop i have the most bazaar dreams. My question is, could they be induced by the anise seed they put in their sauce? i've hear that anise can be a mild halucinogenic, but that may not be true...anyone?

In the past few years I've seen a strong connection in my own experience between eating legumes (especially peanuts and pinto or black beans) and having bizarre dreams. I don't agree with the theory that "indigestion" is to blame because this effect can occur 3 or 4 hours after having eaten and I will not have this problem when I am truly having indigestion (and no legumes) but I will if I ate legumes. I suspect there are chemicals in legumes that greatly affect our neurotransmitters.

I'd like to propose to anyone out there who is intrigued by the effects of foods on dreams to experiment with ingestion of peanuts or beans (it also occurs with almonds) either right before bed or within 3 or 4 hours, and note if you have bizarre dreams.

I have noticed that if I over-eat before bed, or eat junk food near bedtime, I nearly ALWAYS have bad dreams. Long, scary, bad dreams. Also, I can never lucid dream if I over-eat.

Does anyone know if there are certain foods that can help with lucid dreaming? I have heard that fasting before the night you plan to lucid dream is a good way.
