Hello everyone i'am new here and just wanted to say hello.I do wonder why at times why sometimes when i sleep i have a dream then i feel like iam awake and can't move.At first i had an ordinary dream but then all of a sudden i could see myself sleeping but it was kindve dark and sunny.I was hearing these buzzing sounds so i closed my eyes but i couldn't wake up.So as i moved my arms i gained control of my body and i had noticed i was sitting up like i was when i was trying to move. It's kindve weird because i felt like i was in a deep sleep or maybe i was caught between dreaming and being awake. It would be nice to know what happened and why....

Hi ^_^ I'm new too, and I'm Kimi.
Welcome to the forum. And I think that's called sleep paralysis, but I'm not positive. |

It is called sleep paralysis. Its just a condition that many people havce. Its simply that you wake up too early in the sleep cycle and yet part of your body is still immersed in sleep and so naturally you feel paralysed.
------------------ It is actually possible to understand what dreams mean. Simply look at the effects on people who have gone without sleep for a long time period. If you are deprived of sleep for several days then you will slip into madness. The reason for this is that sleep and dreams are linked to vital brain functions. During the day we store up new thoughts and experiences within short term memory blocks. So if we are deprived sleep these become overloaded. The mind has no more space to store new feelings so these are merely forgotten. During sleep vital brain waves emerge. Beta waves and theta waves are only ever detected within the brain at night. These help us process through those new feelings and experiences stored in short term memory. We integrate these new feelings into long term memory blocks. So if you do not sleep then you will not be updating your thoughts. You will not be building a bigger picture. It also has indications that it could be the beginning of an out-of-body experience; a phenomenon that is common to some people.

Hi there dream guardian. I'm new to this site too. I came looking for a dream forum because I find dreams in general pretty interesting.
I've had a few 'dream experiences' that I've tried to find out a bit more about that seem to be classified under this lucid dreaming'. 95% of the time they haven't been very nice, the sort of thing you try your hardest to awake from. Weird, very hard to explain. I'll be in my bed seemingly awake but obviously not because all this crazy **** will happen. Quite frightening. Spooky sounds, strange visitors, once my cat was involved but you know really it wasn't my cat, . . The worst time was when 'someone' came into my room. A ghostlike spooky type person and came up close to my bedside and reached towards my face before disapearing into the wall at the head of the bed. Anyway thank goodness I haven't had allot of them as they can be quite upsetting. Later. Jo |
