I knew I was dreaming and could explore...

Basically, I had this dream where I knew I was dreaming. I could do as I wanted, and had a great deal of powers, like demi-god powers(fly, immortal, teleport, time-travel, and invulnerable) .I was in a setting similar to a city. Nothing could harm me. Since I knew I was dreaming, I became curious as to what the sun looks like in a dream, so I looked up at the Sun. I looked up, and at first saw nothing, but after focusing I was able to see the sun without it hurting my eyes. I could see solar flares! Then I decided to fly up to space. I could see the earth, sun, venus and mars. I decided to go to mars and when I thought about it, I was there. I appeared in a beach partially in the water of this ocean, the atmosphere was red; there was a sand storm, and I saw office buildings in the distance opposite of the beach. I looked down and saw dead fish, a few different kinds that looked nothing like that we have on earth. These fish had no eyes, were their eyes would be, instead grayish skin covered these fish. Somehow I knew these fish were created on earth through some sort of genetics ( in my dream, I knew exactly which two creatures they combined the dna with the fish, but now I don't). After that, I decided to leave on my own accord. Instead of flying back to space, I appeared in a library of some sort. This was one room and books were piled high, some on book shelves. Hanging from the ceiling appeared to be 3-d paper models of the planets of our solar system. I was about to travel to jupiter, but once I focused on the planet, I heard a high pitched sound which kind of scared me, so I decided not to go there.
There was a bit more to this dream, but I am curious about how #1. I knew I was dreaming. and #2. I was able to control my actions, and #3. I had demi-god powers. The part of the dream not mentioned above is my time-travel experience. I may add that part of the dream on if anyone is interested. I would also appreciate any feedback on this.

I must say that I have no earthly idea why you had demi-god powers, but the fact that you knew you had them and could control them in your dream is awesome! I've only been able to do that once in a dream, but I loved it.

Do you play video games by any chance? That might be why you had powers in your dream...or maybe because in real life you desire to have more power, and thats how your mind designed it.

Well, the other part of my dream deals with me just randomly destroying things. I figured no harm in just knocking down buildings. People died in it too, and then the beautiful day suddenly turned gray and stormy. I interpreted this as God being upset with me, and then I decided to time travel and spread, hehe, christianity.
The first time I time traveled to was an acient rome setting. There were two gladiators fighting in an arena full of people and the emperor. I tell the two gladiators to stop fighting. I then point at the emperor and tell him I need to speak to him. After that, people started to flee, except for the emperor's guards who attempted to attack me, but of course couldn't hurt me. I was able to pull the emperor towards me. I had him in a headlock and and told him again that I needed to talk to him. Then one of his guards threw a long dagger that went through me and stabbed the emperor in his left shoulder. I told the emperor to hold still and then proceeded to heal his wound. I thought that now I could finally tell him about God. As soon as he was willing to listen to me, I leapt into a more future time. All I remember about this part is that it was night and I saw men in full body armor and guns. I then woke up.
I would have to say that the time-travel section of my dream is the only part of my dream were I lose focus on doing what I want to do. I become preoccupied to do right since I indulged in wrong-doing earlier in my dream.

I have had other dreams where I knew that I was dreaming before. It is very rare if it happens. But I have noticed that it usually happens, such as the dream listed above, during mid-day naps (if I ever have the luxury).

I do play video games. I have an xbox 360, and love oblivian. I haven't played that game in about a week. I also play alot of civilization 4 as well.

The other dream where I knew I was dreaming was cool too. I was batman, haha. I was very agile and strong. I distinctly remember how easy it was to flip, jump around and dodge things. Lots of fun!

So question for ya. what did you do in your dream where you knew you were dreaming? Is there any similarities between ours?

That time travel part was rather interesting. So are you Christian in real life or just in your dreams when God decides to smite you :P

I find it a little funny that you seem to get foggy when you do the time travel part...I don't know how I would explain that.

Your dream is actually a little hard for me to interpret, and I can't really explain why...its really cool to hear about, but then my mind gets stuck when I try to explain stuff. Sorry bout' that.

You probably can control your dreams better when you nap because you know that your not going to sleep for a full night, just a short time, so your not in as deep of a sleep as you are at night time.

I play video games too. I'm a ps2 person though, and I'm pretty into RPGs. My friend plays oblivion though, so at least I know what your talking about.

In my dream I had the powers of fire and ice, and I was very fast, and I couldn't fly, but I could like hop or bounce really high and it would take me long distances really quickly. I kept setting people I didn't like on fire, and I had on some wicked awesome clothes. My mind was playing tricks on me though, because I kept thinking gosh I can't wait to show these powers to my grandma when I wake up. So I kind of knew I was dreaming, but I kind of didn't. I could control when I used the powers though, and how much at different times.

Similarities...Well I never had time travel so nothing similar there. Basically the only similarities I can think of is that we both had supernatural powers, and that we both hurt or killed people with them.

I honestly wouldn't consider my self really that religious. I am catholic and haven't been to church since I was 17, about 7 years ago. Although I'm not that religious, I do believe in God; I'm just so hard-core about religion. I haven't had dreams shooting fire and ice, though that would be awesome!

Do you watch many films, Protomus? There is a scene where the Emperor Caligula is hit by a thrown spear while seated in an amphiteatre. I think it was in Demetrius and The Gladiators [1954]. The circumstances of his actual assassination vary.

On January 24, 41, Chaerea and other guardsmen accosted Caligula while he was addressing an acting troupe of young men during a series of games and dramatics held for the Divine Augustus Caesar. Suetonius records a death similar to Julius Caesar with Caligula stabbed 30 times brought about by a man with the name Cassius. Caligula's family was also killed.

The Emperor's Germanic guard, stricken with grief and rage, responded with a rampaging attack on the assassins, conspirators, innocent senators and bystanders alike.

It is very hard to tell if a dream is a 'time travel' one or not. It could easily have been 'pieced together' from things you've seen, heard or read. I've 'digested' so much historical material in my life. That's why I'm cautious about dreams that appear to show a different time period. For who knows what the subconscious mind does when we are asleep... .
