Hi,
Quote:
Seriously seeing a ghost is a natural psychological defence agains boredom and letting go. Ghosts are usualy hiding in dark, dangerous places where the person perceives a sense of fear. Seeing a ghost under these circumstances raises the persons level of awareness by several notches and it is like a man with a sword in his hand saying to you: "on guard". However if you go out with the pupose of encountering with a ghost, your level of consciousness is allready at a high and remains so until you finished the quest. The mind's defensive mechanism does not kick in. Cheers Wolfjk

Ghosts do exist; how do I know; I have seen two in my lifetime. One 1965 when I saw the apparition of my 3 year old daughter beside my bed upon awakening one morning in the dark. I guess she must have been having an OOB experience. The other was 1968 when I awoke in the middle of the night, coming straight out of sleep to being wide awake. There was an eldertly man, short in stature, standing by the left side of my bed looking at me.
On the occasion I saw my daughter I spoke to her on arising from bed, passed her, then turned around and she had gone. The room was so dark that if she had been there in reality I would not have been able to see her. The second occasion involving the elderly man, well, I was scared, so pulled the bedclothes over my head in trepidation and argued with myself at trying to muster the courage to look again. When I eventually did, it had gone. Why they happened, I do not know. Anyone who denies their existence speaks from ignorance. Seeing them is certainly not a figment of the imagination; only those who are guessing would say this. |

Your turn may come but, to my knowledge, ghosts (or apparitions) appear when least expected. It sounds as if you have yet a long way ahead of you and patience can be a virtue. You may never see any but then who can tell? I love your inquisitiveness; keep asking the questions.

My daughter remains alive and what could have been happening was that she was having what is called an out-of-body experience (known as an OOB or OOBE). Some people seem able to accept that ghosts might exists but find it difficult to accept that the apparition of a live person can be seen. I would suspect that the ghost of the elderly man whom I saw at my bedside departed as I was scared. Ghosts appear to be benign (harmless) and oddly sensitive to one's feelings. Possibly as I was scared could be the reason why ghosts have never returned but I can only guess. The best thing to do if one ever sees as ghost (that is if one has the courage) would probably be to watch it to see what happens and to remember the detail of the experience. My regret is that my reaction (to my surprise) was that of a child. When I saw my daughter, in the darkness of the room, her image (and she was dressed in a well-fitted gown type garment) was white yet I could see all her detail. She had what could be described as a lost-look in her eyes. On witnessing the man, the room was brightly lit and everything, including the ghost, was in bright colour. When it disappeared the room was in total darkness. I have the feeling that the ghost was that of my maternal grandfather but I am uncertain. To my knowledge most people never experience ghosts and as they cannot be apprehended or quantified or reproduced then there is a strong disblief by those who have never witnessed them of their existence. I hope all this helps you to better understand. Statistically, the chances are that you will never have this experience. Incidentally, I am not religious. I am an agnostic. Note too, that of the many who visit this site, no one else (so far) has come forward saying that they witnessed an actual ghost which is probably an indication of how unique is the experience.

I saw the ghost of my grandfather when I was about nine years old, right after he passed. I was sleeping at my grandmother's house and came wide awake and sat up. I saw him in his bed and he sat up, swung his legs around, leaned towards me and smiled. I freaked for a minute and threw the covers over my head. When I looked again he was gone. As I grew older I realized that he was showing me a wonderful thing; that he could move again. He was confined to a wheelchair most of his life and had to be put in bed with a lifter.

There is a good description in Hamlet about a ghost and what to do if you see one! It is odds on you will believe you see one sometime in your life. There is no need to be frightened! Seeing a ghost is a useful device of grabbing your attention. Sometimes it allerts you to dangers you might face in a spooky place, however if you see one in your bedroom or after a nap, you can be be sure it's your mind playing tricks on you. The subconscious mind has a playful, humorous and mischievious side to it! Cheers Wolfjk
