I think your dream Jennings, has a lot to do with the breakdown of a relationship in your life, hence your feelings of bewilderment and loneliness and also finding that a well known path was unfamiliar. You felt, quite literally, lost for a while, like your car. Hope i am not being too personal, but that's what it feels like it means to me anyway. The poem was super, and i hope things are working out for you better now.

Thanks for the reply from you all and yes, Carol, there was indeed a breakdown in relationship so let me explain what occurred. The dream happened nine years ago and it was two days in advance of the passing of my first wife from BC. We had been together for over 45 years and it was a happy relationbship. Prior to her demise (about two years before) she befriended one of our son-in-law's fathers whose own wife had just passed-on. He resided in York while we lived at Perth about 250 miles apart. He was a fine gentleman of about the same age to that of my wife. On the day she was buried he attended her funeral.
In the dream, the car park and public arena were probably life as it is or was. A saloon car can become the extension of one's personality and in a good marital relationship each becomes dependent on the other to the extent that one is almost the extension of the other's personality so the car represented my relationship with my first wife. On returning to the car to find it missing was confusing and sad as it had never happened to me before and I felt bewildered. The old Jaguar too was missing which was situated three cars further along and this part of the dream has an additional interesting feature. The familiar road that I had to travel along by walking home was life after the death of my wife; like having to live as a single person again; all familiar territory yet so strange as it had been many years since I had travelled this road. I was aware of my wife's pending demise although not when it would occur so the dream was preparing me for this event which, as I said, was two days later. What I think is even more intriguing, is our son-in-law's father whom my wife befriended passed on himself three weeks later (the same numerical distance as between the cars) and hence the missing Jaguar in the dream, so it was predictive. As the sequel to this event; I began to realise that I was managing my grief around three months after the event but, the lonilness was sending me bananas; consequently, I went on the lonely-heart's circuit where I met my present wife and we have been togther for eight years. I feel fortunate in having had two successful marriages. It might also be noted that it is only when the theme of the dream becomes apparent that its symbols become meaningful. On their own they are inconsequential, so any dictionary definition is without foundation and misleading. Last edited by Jennings : 06-27-2007 at 03:38 PM. |

Its vital to understand the process of dreams. Most dreams simply reorder the mind and sort through memories from the previous day. Dreams represent the ways in which our mind has been reshaping. If dreams represent the ways in which our mind has been reshaping, how would that explain dreams that can be proven to be prophetic in nature? |

WEll dreams can help us reshape our own internal and personal thoughts. Many dreams come simply from within our own personal brains. Yet they can also be prophetic and precognitive and telepathic. These dreams exist in another sense. There are several different types of dreams. Not all are personal and psychological in origin. Not all are precognitive. Some are personal and some precognitive. Its difficult to tell between the two.
----------------------------- Dreams are not about the facts about our lives they are rather about the reality of our feelings. Thats why many dreams are about yesterday. There is a tendency to see dreams as premonitions and the terrible things happening as omens for the future. yet such dreams can often be about the reality of our own feelings. We feel as if we are being chased by dogs. We feel as if we are on top of a skyscraper and about to fall to the ground. So such dreams are often about mundane and simple situations that at the time we exxagerate in our minds. So a skyscraper dream could simply link to some situation where you had your confidence tested.
